Campaign Ideas I've Had

I'm running a pseudo-ATB game now, and I've come up with a couple ideas for stuff in the world, like secret societies and maybe a cult or two
Like having secret societies based on scientific communities of today, like my Academic Underground society called the Audobons. It's, kind of obviously, a scholastic group of birds across North America. I'm thinking of doing similar based on possibly the Kennel Club or something... >.>
I'm thinking of having a bit of a cult in Sedona, with very little to do with New Age, ideologically. Something about vortexes being dimensional nexuses or something.
I'm even thinking of having a secret brotherhood based on snakes that worship "the world's last, true dragon." Might be a hugely mutated critter or chimera, haven't decided yet.
If anyone has suggestions or ideas along these lines, I'd love to hear them :)

I've had idea for a group called the "Free Rangers". Here's what I wrote of them in a HLS back in '06: [LINK]
Hook: Thirty years ago mutant chickens rose up against the Cardanian government to have wild chickens removed from the nations livestock/commodity list. This event was to known as the Cluckers Revolt, a bloody revolution that ended when the government agreed to open numerous chicken refuges for the chickens, both wild and mutant.

The Cluckers Revolt also saw the rise an extremist cell within the chicken community known as the Free Rangers. These chickens wanted more than freedom for their species, they wanted the entire Delaware peninsula as their own nation.

Since the revolt, the Free Rangers have conducted numerous terrorist actions against Cardania in an attempt to force the government to hand over the land they wanted.

Three years ago, in a raid on a Ranger stronghold, Cardania announced that they had finally broken the Free Rangers organization with the capture of their leader, Erik Rigdon.

In secret, a covert cell worked on plans to free their leader from Fort Borow in Smoketown, Cardania's Maximum Security Penitentiary.

With Cardania now watching their northern border, the Free Ranger cell was able to move into Smoketown with a large cache of weapons and soldiers in preparation for its assault on Fort Borow.

Line: The group will be flown, by helicopter, to the main chicken reservation in Dover County (formerly Delaware) where they are to find and take Erik Rigdon's brother, Paul Rigdon, into custody for interrogation to find where the Free Ranger cell is operating from in Smoketown.

Sinker: Erik's brother is being guarded by seven cell members at the Dickinson Mansion in a small poultry settlement south of the town of Dover, Delaware. The guards are armed with automatic weapons and light body armor and will fight to the death.

Paul is a pacifist who does not agree with the Free Rangers means of fighting the system and will assist the group by giving them the name of a known Free Ranger operative in Smoketown who would most likely know where the cell is operating.

Hmmm..... Secret Societies in AtB, eh??? Sound like a decent enough idea.

True, but even in a PA setting the only places that a group would need or want to be secret is when they are in danger of being attacked/imprisoned if discovered. So you need to ask yourself, why are they a "secret" society/cult? What are they protecting/hiding, and from whom? Also, many secret societies will have a "public" front to hide behind.

You are a bad, bad man. But that's a hilarious idea which I'll have to use at some point.

AtB has to have a lot of secret societies since it's derived from TMNT, which had chock-fulls. Gatorland is already described as a secret society, and I'm sure that species families would group together ("birds of a feather flock together") to form secret conspiracies or clubs to further their specific purposes. Predators might have a Alpha Gamma Claw fraternity or scavengers might have a Pick 'N Bones Secret Society. I suppose herd animals would be more bourgeoisie and have Hoof-Approved consumer destinations for their members.
