WP: Spell Magic ?

Greetings!
I have an idea; a WP for Spell Casters!I came up with this because my D20 hates me at times...
It may be something like this:
WP: Spell Magic
This skill adds to the Caster's To-Hit-Roll with all Cast Spells that use Dodge as the Saving Throw. This allows a Mage with Firebolt (already granting a +4 to Strike) to add + 1 to Strike at Levels 1,3,5,8,10 and 13.

I'd say drop the +1 at level 1 and also make it every three levels the character gets his +1, but I yeah, I agree with you on that fact that higher level mages need more of a bonus to hit than from the spells alone.

Just curious, why drop the +1 at 1st Level?
Have the Bonus a straight +1 at 3rd,6th,9th,12th,and 15th?
Is this what you're thinking of? If so, I can see it as reasonable.

The reason I had said to drop the +1 at level 1 is because a 1st level caster is not going to be experienced enough to be more accurate than others.

Have you seen the PFRPG first edition magic combat tables. each mage had one. Gave more spell attacks, bonuses to spell strength, bonuses to save etc.?

1st edition PF main book under each magic OCC (near the OCC stats/skill selections usually)

I kinda like the idea, but something to keep in mind is that magic already has an advantage over most tech because magic spells are almost always self-guided to some degree or other.
Call Lightning and other stuff are just an automatic hit.
Magic Net and others hit unless the target dodges.
Fire Bolt and others have built-in strike bonuses already, which make them more accurate in some ways than guns.
A guy with an energy rifle would have to spend 2 attacks on an Aimed Shot (+2) AND be 4th level before he could get a +4 strike bonus, versus the level 1 mage spending 1 attack.
Granted, the guy with the rifle could get tech bonuses to strike (good scope, targeting optics, Sniper skill, etc), but the point is that WP Spell Magic as presented would just be adding advantage to the already advantaged.
Not that this is always a problem, but if you're going to do it I think you should make the advantages smaller, but with a wider range.
For example:
+10% range at Level 1
+1 strike at level 3
+1 to Dodge Requirement at level 5
+10% range at level 7
+1 MD at level 9 (+10 damage on SDC spells)
+1 strike at level 11
Crit on natural 19-20 at level 13
+1 Dodge Requirement at level 15

Also, they had HTH: Magic (or something) in TMNT. (Transdimensional, maybe?)

Just a thought, but this idea being discussed would be more in line as a Sorcerous proficiency then a WP.

OK. It seems like the majority like;
A) Less Bonuses: a +1 Strike at Levels 1,4,7 and 12 seems (to me) a good compromise.
B) A Catagory basis: Single Target and Area Spells as a pair of seperate Skill Choices, so the dedicated combat-orientated Mage needs to spend two WP's to get both Single Target and Area Target Spell WP's.
C) A HTH: Magic (I have seen this somewhere online before) as a seperate choice.
Thank you, GaredBattespike
