Got it in yesterday, and I like it pretty well. Not my fave or anything, but it is really interesting, with nae as many "filler repeats" as a few books have.
I'd recommend it (but who am I trying to kid, since I have every Rifts book there is, and quite a few from the other Palladium titles).

Is there more info on Cosmo-Knights in there or is it solely focused on the 2000 and their abilities?

Nothing on Cosmo-Knights. While it is a Dimension book it is geared to work in several setting with M.D.C. and S.D.C. stats.

What happened to the new updated and expanded info on the Cosmo-Knights that was initially stated to be in the book

At one point, didn't the description of the book on this website say something about Cosmo-Knights? Did I hallucinate that? I'm excited regardless (hopefully my copy will arrive today) but I hope that one of these upcoming 3G books updates/expands on the C-Knights.

copy/paste from earlier weekly update, (cosmoknight blurb highlighted by me)

The legend of the Book of Heroes.

The Book of Heroes and its many powers described.

The power to create superhumans.

101 detailed super abilities (not reprints from other books).

Hero avatars, mentors, and ghosts.

Notable heroes and the powers bestowed to player characters when their names are invoked.

The dangers of the Book of Heroes, and why it must never fall into the hands of any Lord of Hell.

The protectors of the Book of Heroes, and the adventure setting around keeping it safe. Has the book chosen you to defend it?

Cosmo-Knights revisited, with new details and information.

A number of NPC heroes and some surprises.

At some point, the focus of the book seems to have switched from being set largely in the Phase World universe, to one which is useable across the wider bredth of the Palladium game line. For the record, it's a change I approve of.

when it was announced that this book played a part in the minion war - then it more or less became a palladium megaverse book. At least allowing heroes to be created for the various palladium settings which had a minion war book released. i don't think i saw it as a phaseworld only book

I thought the original press releases suggested the book covered the various palladium setting.
superpowers - HU
Cosmoknights guarding it, new cosmic forge occ's - phaseworld
create legendary heroes - rifts and pfrpg

Why?

:shrugs:

My guess would be so that the book, containing all the names of the people who helped Palladium out in its more dire time of need, would appeal to everyone... not just those who play Phase World.

I know the Cosmo-knight material was why I ordered the book. So when are we getting this material and I find it absolutely disrespectful to take something so many people wanted out of a book that was promised to carry it with no explanation why.

I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed that the promise to include PayPal donors as heroes seems not to have been fulfilled, but I totally see how honouring the 2000 in this way was priority.

Otherwise, despite the other apparent last minute changes/omissions, I'm still going to pick this up when I can.

Yeah, I shot him a PM and he asked me to clarify what I meant, so I replied and he's yet to respond - from the latest weekly update (25th) they look like they've all got their hands full, so it's no wonder really. :)

See the bottom of this post: http://forums.palladium-megaverse.com/viewtopic.php?p=2255187#p2255187

The tl;dr is, we screwed up, and forgot about this completely. We'll definitely include those names in the second printing of the book, and in the meanwhile we're thinking about other ways to make it up to you folks.

Oh, and since I'm here, yes, we had originally intended to include a bunch of stuff about Cosmo-Knights and the Cosmic Forge (or at least those who worship it). Some months ago, we stopped including that in the product description in our press releases, because it was looking more and more like it wasn't going to make it in there, and was more likely to appear, in some form, in another book. As it took shape, Heroes of the Megaverse became a book about everyday people who became heroes, and while there are some similarities to the way people become Cosmo-Knights, those mega-powered heroes are a different thing altogether (although it would make perfect sense if some of the Two Thousand were, in fact, Cosmo-Knights).

We're sorry for those who are disappointed not to find Cosmo-Knight material in Heroes of the Megaverse. Books often undergo changes in the writing and development process and end up a bit different than originally thought and intended, and this time, that Cosmo-Knight material was a casualty of that.

Simple then...give it to us in the cutting room floor OR have it fleshed out and include it in the next book.

Thanks for the update Wayne - the explanation from Kevin is much appreciated, especially with all the real life difficulties going on for him at the moment. I hope I wasn't coming across as churlish - as I've said before, my motivation for donating was purely to help keep my favourite RPG company going, nothing more.

Still looking forward to getting hold of a copy as soon as funds allow! Cheers again! :ok:

Kev's explained in the latest weekly update that the material may go into a cosmo-knight sourcebook.

Cosmo Knights are already the most powerful OCC in the Megaverse. Why do they need an entire sourcebook?

It was written, at least in one initial draft form. I can assure you of that.
