What’s been happening . . .
Sorry, it’s been 10 days since my last Murmur. Yes, I’m alive. Tuckered out, but alive.
There have been a never ending cavalcade of issues and concerns with my father’s health and his care. For the last couple of weeks it has taken up half of my time. The rest has been divided between the operations of Palladium Books (and a little writing) and the Rifts trademark lawsuit.
Last night I got home around 10:30 PM, put on my pajamas and planned to watch an hour or two of TV before I hit the sack. I laid down on the bed for what was supposed to be just a minute, and woke up at 7:30 the next morning. At least I finally got 9 hours of sleep.
The emotional drain of the uncertainty surrounding my father’s up and down health is so taxing. What was supposed to be a 10-12 day hospital stay is going on five weeks. Yikes. There’s only me and Mark (the son of my Dad’s friend, Arlene), to share the task of visiting my Dad in the hospital and dealing with doctors, nurses, treatment, care, problems, finding a nursing home and rehab center, etc. Arlene helps as much as she can, but she can only do so much herself.
I usually see my Dad in the morning. It’s an hour’s drive one way, so by the time I visit and make the round trip, I get to the office around 1:00 or 2:00 PM – 3 PM if I stop to eat lunch or run a couple errands. Then it's 7-8 hours at the office. I can’t seem to get home before 10:00 PM most nights. But I’m hanging in there and trying to stay positive on all fronts.
For the moment, Dad is resting comfortably, recovering and seems to be improving from his most recent alarming health issue. We’re hoping this is the last crisis and things only improve from this point forward. Poor guy.
Sorry there haven't been any Murmurs from the Megaverse® over the last 10 days. Every morning starts with a plan to post, but by the end of the day I'm either so emotionally drained, brain-fried or tired, I would end up writing in caveman speak. You know, something like: "Heroes of the Megaverse® good. You buy now. More come soon. Ugh." Which I figured wouldn't be too good, so I haven't been posting. It's only 8:10 PM and I'm semi-conscious tonight while writing this post. At least I hope I'm posting something legible.
Heroes of the Megaverse® continues to sell well. Despite mostly rave reviews, it seems a few fans were disappointed that there was no new material about Cosmo-Knights as originally advertised. We stopped listing the Cosmo-Knights being in the book a while back, guys. The suggested material just didn’t fit the rest of the book and we ran out of pages and time. I’m toying with doing a small (64-96 page) Cosmo-Knight sourcebook in the future so hang tight.
The Rifter® #52 is at the printer.
I’m excited about Armageddon Unlimited™. It is another imaginative book with plenty of adventure opportunities, new source material and great ideas. Plus, it can be adapted to just about any setting.
Online sales weren’t bad last week but were very weak this week. I’m sure they'll pop back up.
Can hardly wait to finish Armageddon Unlimited™ and get to work on the Rifts® Vampire books.
2010 Christmas Surprise Packages™ start soon. I can’t believe it’s that time of year already. We’ve been prepping for a week or so. More about the Surprise Packages/Grab Bags in the Weekly Update.
My apologies to the wonderful multitude that send me Private Messages. I’ve been so busy and distracted with everything, I’ve been unable to answer them. I’ll try over the weekend.
I’ll try to Murmur more often. Thank you for your concern for my father, me and Palladium.
Keep those imaginations burning bright.
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
