Saturday was a good day.
Yeah, I had to work and, yeah, it was my birthday, but I didn’t mind.
April 2, was my birthday, so all day long I received birthday wishes. I had a nice call from my daughter Monica, my brother Brian, and my friends Kay, Brandon, and Aubrey. I also received text messages, emails, private messages and a bunch of other birthday greetings and well wishes from all over. Then, Kathy dropped off some delicious Birthday cupcakes and Alex gave me a present even though we’re not celebrating the day until after the Creators Conference. It was nice. Thank you for thinking of me.
The gift was an awesome book titled: The Imagineering Workout by The Disney Imagineers. It is absolutely the best book I have ever read about being creative and the mental tools and outlook you need to be an artist, writer or Imagineer in your own life and career. It now tops my list as MUST READ for anyone aspiring to be a writer or artist of any kind. Stephen King on Writing – which has held the Number One spot on my list for something like 15 years – is now number two on my list, but still very much a "must read" for aspiring writers. The Imagineering book is amazing. For those of you who wonder where ideas come from, how to build on an idea, daring to take the first step in your creative venture (whatever it may be), and so much more, this book is your guide to doing it. Buy it. Read it. Live by it. Seriously.
I started reading it 7:30 this morning and could not put it down until I was finished.
Moms and Dads, get it for you artistic pre-teen, teenager or adult children. Trust me, it makes a great present.
My birthday was also a good day because I got a lot of writing and editing done on Thundercloud Galaxy™. I need to get Thundercloud Galaxy™ finished and to the printer before the Creators Conference, so I worked from 9:00 AM till 9:30 PM – interspersed with all of those birthday calls and wishes. I’ve been working on the monsters and aliens sections. Monsters is done. Aliens are almost done. I expect to finish aliens today. After that, I only have some equipment to review and tweak, and 45 manuscript pages of adventures based on ancient alien ruins to finish for the 101 Ruin Adventures Table.
Even if you are not into the Three Galaxies™ setting you will love this book! It is filled with creatures, aliens, weapons, equipment, adventures and ideas you can take and drop into Rifts®, Palladium Fantasy®, Heroes Unlimited™ or almost anywhere.
By the way, online sales are up a bit so far this weekend. They aren’t great, but they are better than what we were seeing last weekend. I hope they continue to pick up.
I want to thank everyone who sent a Birthday email, private message, card or call. It made the day feel special. Keep those imaginations burning bright and game on!
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
