What’s going on behind the scenes?
Hey everyone. It’s been a week and a half since the Creators Conference and I’ve hardly written a word about it. Sorry. Things have been very hectic since the event, and there is a lot going on behind the scenes at Palladium Books. Part of it is the result of the Conference which, as I’ve said, was everything I hoped it would be. Part of it is business as usual and part of it is working to take Palladium Books to the next level.
What do I mean by that? All kinds of things.
1. Release at least one new product every month.
- I want to support all our game lines with an emphasis on Rifts®, Robotech®, Palladium Fantasy RPG®, Nightbane®, Heroes Unlimited™ and Dead Reign™, but others as well (Splicers®, Beyond the Supernatural™, etc.). With increased effort on the part of freelancers, this should be a reality very soon.
- Keep our products dynamic and pushing the envelope.
- Keep creating games and sourcebooks that inflame your imaginations and never lose the quality you expect from us.
2. I want Palladium to take full advantage of digital and social mediums. For months now, Alex, Wayne and I, along with Rex Barkdoll and Thom Bartold, have been exploring the possibilities. And I mean ALL possibilities. I have hesitated to mention all of this, because I don’t know how quickly we’ll be able to implement the many things we want to do, but here are some of what we have been talking about and working toward doing in the months to come.
- New and improved Palladium website.
- Do more with Facebook.
- Add Twitter, Flickr and more.
- YouTube videos. Yep, you can expect to see a video interview (along the lines of the podcasts) every week from me (probably starting in May or June sometime), and maybe additional interviews from artists and others. We’re also kicking around the idea of doing an ongoing Palladium book review series hosted by Carmen Bellaire, along with other good stuff.
- An increase in PDFs and PODs.
- E-books.
3. New frontiers.
- Comic books based on Palladium RPG intellectual properties.
- A web comic or two. Something short, fun and funny.
- Apps and flash games.
- Licenses with third parties to enter into new mediums.
- Film and other mediums. We are seeing a lot of interest from Hollywood and elsewhere in our I.P.s (intellectual properties), so it seems only a matter of time before something breaks in this area. We’d love to see films, TV shows, videogames, TCGs, board games and other products based on our I.P.s.
Actually, much of the above are new frontiers for Palladium Books, and boy are we excited about them. We’ve been talking to creators, lining up people and laying out projects and proposals.
We need your help too. As you know, Palladium Books always has the best interests of our fans and supporters at heart in everything we do. We have always tried to create the high quality products YOU want. So help us now. Help us by giving us input about the social mediums you use most and where you’d like to see Palladium (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
Please tell us what products you would like to see from Palladium and which areas you’d like to see Palladium’s I.P.s expanded into:
- Videogames
- Facebook/iPhone/Flash Games (think Angry Birds and Farmville)
- MMOGs
- TCGs (Trading Card Games)
- Board Games
- Miniature Games
- Novels (fiction)
- Comic Books (printed)
- Digital Comic Books
- Web Comics
- E-Books
- PDFs of existing and new books
- Other
“Other” – what are we missing that you would like to see? Please tell us.
Along those lines, which RPG settings/worlds do YOU most want to see sourcebooks and support for?
You can vote on our Poll which is located here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=122217
Remember, you won’t be seeing all of this immediately, and some may not be feasible for us, but we want to do a great number of the things listed. Many of which were discussed at the Creators Conference and/or are being investigated (or even developed) as you read this.
Be part of the process. Help us create the products you desire. After all, you’re all part of the Palladium Family. And as always, keep those imaginations burning bright.
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
