I've been playing Palladium Fantasy RPG for almost 20 years now and never ran ito such a fierce rules discussion as we had it last session.

The (still ongoing) argument ist whether you can cast the spell Armor of Ithan on a person that already wears physical armor such as full plate.

One half of my group says it is possible due to Armor of Ithan being noiseless, weightless, Invisible and therfore not really an armor but more of a force field.

The other half says it is more like a physical, rigid suit of armor and therefore wearing two of them would block all the joints and hinges and therefore the person wearing it could not move any longer.

What is your oppinion? Has this been covered before?

The description of the Spell indicates that it would merely create a new Suit right over whatever it is that you're currently wearing.

And since the Spell, by its own words, AUTOMATICALLY configures itself in a way that makes movement possible, regardless of the size and shape of the target it is cast upon, there is nothing to indicate in its description that it would be "stymied" at all in functioning properly just because it is cast upon a physical suit already in existence and on the wearer's body.

(I don't know if you, Johannes, collect any Rifts™ Books, but over there, they have official instances where they cast Armor of Ithan on EVERYTHING -up to and including Techno-Wizardry Capital Space Ships. Hence the reason why I said that the spell shouldn't have any trouble casting over existing armor.)

Negative. Why would they go more into detail? That spell discription is all you will ever find on it.
