Mind Reading Question

So I'm hosting a game where my group is going to a base that has about 3 psi present. One of the psi will read their minds. Knowing my group they will do or say something that would cause a psi to read their minds. No one in the group has anything for blocking or detecting psi powers so here to question... How do I "ask" a player what their character is thinking. Of course I just can't continue to ask again and again "Hey, what's your character think?" If I do they'll be on to me pretty quick. Any help with this will be great.

If your friends have rolled up a detailed character background and are good at playing in character you should be able to predetermine what their character would be thinking. Certainly in general. So you can make a presumption and answer the question.
Remember just cos they were thinking something at that specific time (and you told the mind reader that) doesnt mean that they wont change their minds later (and the player does something different).
Especially if they are playing a female character (+100xp).

I thought about making a table for what topic would be on their minds, but it seems like that would take the decision out of their hands. Not saying that this idea is off the table. Just trying to see if anyone my have thought about this and handled it a different way.
