Some background, have a player who lost a character early on in the TDC roll out, and he was still rolling with just GDC gear. We told him that if he wanted to play his old character he should either flush his characters accounts to have Rollo Masamune upgrade his gear or send in the $25 to Wayne to have the God Smith do it in the next Rifter, but no, he wanted to be cheap about it and was sure his little Juicer-Crazy could avoid getting killed long enough to grab it through looting. Long story short, the Tera-Juicer player proved him wrong. He really shouldn't have made such a point about number of times he'd cleaned out Splynn in the last campaign the character was in. Unfortunately, it turned out that when the TJ hit him out of armor that he hadn't even bought Rifts Stuffbook IX, so he hadn't gotten access to Human Mk2 Radical Character Upgrade, let alone any of the later RCUs from the other SBs. I'm guessing that the TJ was counting on it so he wouldn't have to hear any complaining later. So while we're burning character sheets and I'm scrubbing the character out from my campaign notes, we made sure to remind him about the Step Beyond Non-Existence Rule for attacks three steps higher on the damage scale, and he said he understood.
Now come the other day I catch him talking about the character, and now he refuses to pay the FerkelFine for talking about a SBNE'd character. Peter was certainly right to institute the FerkelFines to reinforce various elements, and how are we supposed to continue on with the For Reals(tm) ruleset if he's going to go around talking about a character that he officially didn't never rolled up?
I know normally that the rules say we have to shun him until the end of his days, but he's kinda of important to the current plot, with his Giga-Mind Bleeder Demigod controlling the Ballet Boy division holding a key component of the CS Tera-City Combiner, Humanitron Prime, against Doctor Pepperheimer's elite Cybronium Knightsmen unit.
So.. would it be alright for me to pay his fine to Ferkelberger Games in his name, or should we just accept that he is dead to us now?
EDIT: Confirmed for violation of Step Beyond Non-Existence Rule of the Forums of the Ferkelverse TOS. Your FerkelFine has been charged automatically to your Rifter Card.
