Does Elvis Live In Your Campaign?

Unread post by Nightmask »

Traipsing around TVTropes I ran into the "Elvis Lives' trope and couldn't help but wonder if anyone's had Elvis in their campaign, or have the fervent belief of his fans bring about the creation of some kind of mystical doppelganger? Or for that matter have his Doppelganger gain full awareness and take up something (perhaps even serving a Nightlord)?

It's 'canon', not 'cannon'. A cannon is a big gun like on pirate ships, canon is what you mean when referring to something as being contained within one of the books such as how many dice to roll for a stat.

Now that's interesting. I could see Graceland functioning as a PPE collector and channeler. And when the PCs face a Doppleganger Warlord in a sequined jumpsuit...

And you thought the Minmei attack was something to see.

Borrowing a concept from Bubba Ho-Tep, Elvis hands his legacy over to a talented Elvis impersonator... who promptly burns out and dies.

The "real" Elvis is la ong-lived Nightbane that continues on, with a bit of a sore spot for how the guy he handed his legacy to screwed up (forever tarnishing his legacy). Never able to achieve anything approaching his former fame, he has turned to drifting: avoiding the war between Light and Dark that he is inevitably drawn back into time and time again through hitch-hiking and boozing it up.

Basically, turning Elvis into a drunk, sagely, rockabilly mentor for the player characters.

That's how I would do it... I may have to now that I think of it.

:D

It'd definitely be an amusing (and even serious addition, after all Elvis as many forget was a trained Martial Artist) thing to add to a campaign. It's hard to imagine Elvis not rating a doppelganger that would have become active with his death given his celebrity. Hmmmm, with that now I wonder if Michael Jackson's doppelganger would also awaken, or John Lennon's, or even John Wayne's. Imagine the Duke coming back as a doppelganger.

Alas Elvis is dead as disco in my game, but Type-O-Negative's Peter Steele lives on.

After years of serving up vampirish tunes and special shows for VIV's (Very Important Vampire's) the vampire powers that be faked his death and turned him. Right now I'm not sure about Jim Morrison though.

Who gives a damn if Elvis is a vampire...what about Elvira?
Nobody can spin tassels like Elvira.

I imagine Nightbane Earth is filled with magical constructs based on people's imaginings due to the nature of pop culture creating intense focus and belief in such iconic characters like Elvira and Elvis.

You mean, Cassandra Peterson. Well, she has been encountered once in a BtS game, when the Mother of one of the players wanted to play in a game. We all were okay with it. She picked a character (arcanest), rolled stats, got a 23 for PB. Chose the real name of Elvira; and had a blast! We wiped out the bad guys party and than she killed his and ate his demonic familiar...Tasted like rabbit, because that was it's host's form was. And, yes. We are talking a mage. He got away though. Didn't encounter him again. No, I'm not really surprised.
