Looking quickly at Alter Aura, I'd say no. Though they could make themselves look weaker than they are, or (combined with a little theatricality) put forth the image that they are 'Good' vamps. But they cannot conceal their basic nature as a vampire anymore than a human could alter his aura to disguise himself as a dragon in human form.

At least that's how it looks IMHO. You can change traits of your aura, but not it's basic nature.

I would allow it, Amanda. Perhaps with a level requirement attached to reflect time and experience spent perfecting the control necessary to achieve such fine manipulation of one's aura. Maybe 4th level for a master and 6th level for a secondary, with wild vampires unable to manage the feat?

It's not like there aren't plenty of other ways to discover a vampire's true nature.

Amanda-Cha'at wrote:As per WB1: VKr vampires have a very special aura that is immediatly recognized by someone who has seen such an aura before.

Can a Vampire use the "Alter Aura" psionics to disguise their "special" aura and appear as a normal mortal?

Otherwise, it is really simple to spot a vampire when he is metamorphed to a human, wolf or so
I would say "yes" to both.

Per the canon examples in the Rifts: England Book, there are three "people" there -The Lady of the Lake, Lady Guinevere, and Merlin himself -who aren't even close to human, but rather, (un)dead bodies reanimated with the possessing essence fragments of an Alien Intelligence.

All three of these creatures, according to the text, use Alter Aura to make themselves look completely human (and apparently, successfully, disguise their alignment as well; they've all easily gotten away with appearing to be good guys for years now).

Ya gotta agree with Corn here, especially sinse they already 'were' human prior, and technically they still are, just a undead human with a supernatural taint.

It also to me make perfect sense that a vampire could alter his aura with a power that is specifically for altering your aura. He isnt trying to change it to look like a dragon or some other thing that he isnt/wasnt.

Or you could just say that he has a supernatural evil aspect to his aura but not give away vamp specifically.

Considering how Alter Aura can mask See Aura and Sense Evil Invocations I 'd say go for it!

In fact this is the power I use when I want a monster go unnoticed.

That's pretty much what Alter Aura is for.

So in the town of Silvereno, CO RIFTS, there is a bar run by a secondary vamp and frequented by her master. According to the book there are 34000 people in Silvereno, 4% of which are Psi-Stalkers, which are, so far as I know, the masters of picking up on supernatural bad things. I think that if 1,360 Psi-Stalkers inhabit Silvereno, surely one or two of them would have picked up on Katherine and Essai if they couldn't hide that Supernatural evil taint of their's, not to mention the number of other folks running around that could potentially have see aura.
