How fast can a normal person climb? How is this impacted by the Climb skill and relevant attributes (PS/PP/PE)? Canonical sources preferred, but I'll take what I can get.

I know this one! Its like your P.S. attribute x 2 but I can't remember where it is for the life of me. Anyone???
Is it mentioned in like the acrobat or tumbler or whatever O.C.C. from Palladium Fantasy? Geez. I honestly cannot recall where I read it!

Guess it's time to make something up. Until something more definitive turns up, I'm going with half PS in feet per action, plus one foot per 10% that the character has in Climbing (if properly equipped). The player must still make a Climbing check every 20ft that the character moves, and two successive failed checks indicates that the character falls as indicated in the Climbing skill description.

It would be "Per Melee round" (or more likely "per minute" if you are going even more "IRL like") not "per APM".
Note: the Martial Arts Technique "Light Body Climbing" has it's climbing spd. = to walking spd. (which is defined as half the spd. attribute)
On the BBC Top Gear they had a race
between a pair of speed climbers going up a (aprox.) 2000' cliff face and a car going along a road that winds around the valley from bottom to top of said cliff face. I believe the time it took for
the speed climbers to make the climb was 34 min'ish.
No, the Acrobat & Tumbler OCC's do not have the climbing details.

Per melee is probably a better fit, mechanically. And with proper equipment. For "free-climbing" I'll push it out to per minute, unless they've got a special skill or power that would allow them to move faster.
Ultimately, I'm not too concerned regarding realism. We are talking about games featuring superhumans, after all.

So climbing 6 feet every 3-5 sec is what you are looking at with 1/2 PS feet per APM.
I don't know about you. But I would hard pressed to do the same on a ladder.

as a free climber I can cover roughly 60 feet in 60 seconds...
Of course that is someone who is properly trained (granted it is at the hobbyists level).

Translation:
I have Climbing as a secondary skill and I can climb 60 feet in a minute. Which is, 15 feet per melee. So Climbing speed is (if this is the skill of a typical climber).
15 ÷ [Number of Actions].
I wish I could remember where I found it. I thought for a second it might be in the Troll R.C.C. of all places... but it wasn't. If I recall correctly, it was P.S. x 2 to determine speed the same way swimming is P.S. x3 (or was it the other way?).

climbing speed RL anyways is difficult to be specific about.
I like damien have been climbing. I went to a climbing school of sorts for about two weeks and I have climbed at several locations (both gyms and natural rock) arround the US and canada.
There are ALLOT of factors that go into determining the speed that a climber can climb. some of thous factors are:
What kind of surface in involved?
Is there lots of good hand holds or is the surface dang near smooth and extremely difficult to climb?
What is the skill level of the climber?
is the rock wet?
As you alone or do you have friends with you?
Are you stopping and placing fall protection as you go?
How heavy are you? No offense intended but fat people take longer to climb...I know this to be a fact because I am on the rotund side.
I actually have written a rifter article regarding climbing that has been submitted for publication. Wayne tells me that it is likely to be published soon. dont belive it hit this edition but he had thought about putting it in....

According to RUE316 a character with climbing skill have to roll every 20 feet (6 m), I so I've always play it as 20 ft (6 m) per melee round. Besides the Lvl 2 climb Invocation let's you move per your Spd attribute.
