Hi all,
Been crazy of late. Managed to produce some new art work. Enjoy! Unfortunately it's total cheesecake...

Not what I was expecting.

Definitely not what I was expecting... a title like that, I figured it was mecha art. Then you said it was cheesecake, so I was expecting something akin to your previous pin-up type pieces. This is regular fanart, and well executed at that.

And in keeping with the original Macross character artist's love of depicting many of his female characters in dance/gym outfits.

Thanks Seto! Originally I was going to go for War Dance...sort of a play on the actual role she played in the War as a cultural weapon, then I thought well, a valkyrie is a female warrior...and the term "valkyrie" is used heavily in both Macross and RT...so there you have it.
Hmmm, so this isn't Cheesecake? Since I learned that term here perhaps someone could clarify?

Yeah the pose is what got this started, and then of course all the original art of Minmei in the art books...one thing led to another. I have another Minmei piece, but I won't be able to finish that for a couple weeks...

technically it is, and in the past it would be. but 'cheesecake' generally emphasizes the more sexual/sensual aspects according to current mores, which this pic doesn't really do. there is an element of it (as with any pic of a good looking woman, really), but it is mostly a side effect of having a good looking girl, not a primary goal of the image.

Haruhiko Mikimoto also uses the dance pose theme more heavily in Megazone 23, rather than the idol singer motif. In many ways Yui Takanaka is the 'Minmei behind the scenes', with rather more character development and spine(made abundantly clear by the eyecatch dance sequences). Flexible she is.

What I would like to see next is one of Mirria in CVR-3, helmet off, who has red hair and has cat ears

Rick Hunter: "Ah....the red alert didn't
interrupt something the two of you were doing, did it? You know...never mind..."
Max Sterling: "You don't ask about the cat ears. We don't ask about the rope burns."

nah, it's a miryia copy.. zentreadi are all clones, did you think they'd not make lots of copies of individuals which proved superb at their jobs? (or maybe use those genetics to make some Tirolian clones as well.. waste not, right?
)

Didn't we do this in the Crossover thread?

Catgirls? Yah, we did. But that was done to no-account characters from another series. We're talking a MAJOR baseline character here with cat-ears.

Hi Alpha,
Yes of course there are more Mecha works in the offing, but I have recently gotten involved with another project that limits my time with RT. It is still a passion of mine and I will likely continue Fanart, and consider requests, but for the short term RL and my new project have me pretty bound up...unfortunate, but true.
I still have a couple set pieces and of course my ships of the RDF line. I have roughed out a Battle-class cruiser, but haven't touched it in months...and several other works in draft stage that I posted on my DA sketchpad.

Come to think of it... that same pose was used in
Macross Flashback 2012, in one of the old pictures Minmay looks at before leaving Earth. Good stuff. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.

I wouldn't call it cheesecake-y, since it's not at all gratuitous. It's pretty innocent stuff, not the kind of thing you'd see on a pinup calendar.
