This would depend immensely upon where the game was set. However, I find that packs of wild vampires, Splugorth Slave Barges, Bionically Altered T-REX's and A fully developed Morphos are good places to start.

wounded person dragging themselves nearby
random weather (normal or magical) [go to bed in sweltering heat, wake up six feet under water during a flood]
mysterious collapsing tent (collapses every time they get inside)
sinkhole opens underneath them while they sleep
falling trees (due to soil erosion or high winds)
forest or prairie fire
nearby damn bursts
pests (bookworms eating their books, bedbugs in their sleeping gear, maggots in their food, etc)
trees that shift positions in the forest (nothing sinister, they just like to confuse travelers)

Say you have up to four playing in character XP rewards per player, what do they talk about and do as they bed down?
Really if you have no ideas for what might happen when they are bedding down, either leave it to the players to create their own mischief, or just don't do anything.
