Amnesiac/Reborn characters and Classes

Unread post by Tor »

I've noticed in many cases there are classes available as PCs which involve having a "past life" of sorts but where they are reborn and forget all or at least a portion of their previous skills, usually along with memories. I thought it would be interesting to brainstorm a list of classes (and any unique characters) who fall into that. I am wondering if anyone knows any examples besides the ones I came up with. Half I didn't think of initially but eventually remembered.

Also will edit in any suggestions people make so we have a compiled list, and will make notes as to how many skills are lost and key phrases about memory loss.

ASSORTED CLASSES (unclear due to lack of OCC/PCC/RCC listing, though they seem more RCCish)
Enlightened Immortal (Mystic China pg127 Ti Hsien)
---upon rebirth, soul is wiped of all memories, eventually regains all memories, usually from 10-17 yrs old with aid of other Immortals. Unclear how long it would take to regain them without the aid of other Ti Hsien
Juicer Techno-Zombie (JUpg150)
---Skills are frozen, lose skill bonuses, lowered IQ may lower percentage
Mock Zombie (Dead Reign)
---loses all secondary skills, only remembers 2 elective skills, retains all OCC skills, frozen at 45%, no bonuses, remembers half of human life, 10-20 yrs before becoming a zombie
Murder Wraith (Juicer Uprising)
---old skills are only frozen, but due to IQ loss they may lower in percentage
Phoenix Juicer (JUpg151)
---old skills are frozen, IQ is altered which may alter %

OCCs
Apoks (Wormwood)
---loses all old original OCC skills (may retain elective/other/related/secondary, unclear) retains knowledge of cities, secrets, insight to minds' inner workings, desires, pleasures, tactics
Corrupt (Federation of Magic)
---most past memories become faded, IQ is lowered, skills on pg87 (related?) and pg 88 (secondary) are new rather than retained, implying all old skills are lost, though it only says "all old skills become faded and difficult to remember".
---The Repentant/Cursed Corrupt (good) can remember 1/2 of old skills, but they're frozen (but only get half new skills)
Cosmo-Knights (Phase World)
---skills of past life are lost
Half-Living (Dead Reign) (suggested by Snake Eyes)
---retains all OCC skills, forgets 30-80% of Elective and Secondary OR no Elective/Secondary at all if starting.

PCCs
Transcendent (Rifter 1 pg 117) suggested by drewkitty
---abilities/skills retained from previous lives rolled on table

RCCs
Cold-Blooded (Rifts Adventure Sourcebook 5 Mercenary Adventures pg 18) suggested by Giant 2005
---loses all but 4 OCC skills, though gains a decent enough skill set
Guardians (Nightbane)
---powers cause them to lose most of their memories, only have a few skills, barely remember their pasts
Man-Monster (Spirit West pg110-118)
---lose all secondary/related, retain only half of OCC skills
Reapers (Shadows of Light)
---retains only 2-5 OCC related skills, but gains a new fixed RCC skills template
Reformed Demon (Mystic China)
---upon becoming human loses all skils, all magical knowledge, all transformation powers, all attributes and bonuses, has only a hazy memory of prior existence
Vampires (Vampire Kingdoms)
---old skills freeze, Masters lose skill bonuses but retain all, secondaries only retain 10, wilds only retain 6 which must be from limited categories, secondaries remember more of human life than others (except Wampyrs, who don't lost anything)

NPCs
Katrina Sun (Isis)
Thoth (Xy)

Can anyone think of anything else? There's a mix of consensual transformations (Apoks, Cosmos, MMs presumably), non-consensual ones (Katrina/Thoth/Vamps), and ones of a questionable nature (Guardians)

Ah good point, also the Mock Zombies too. Even classes designated for NPCs are worth mentioning if they're based on previous character outlines, will incorporate with notes as to who came up with subsequent suggestions.

Enlightened Immortal is not a class. It is more an add-on to a existing char. The soul is not wiped of memories, it just does not remember it's past lives, till later in life when the E.I. regains their powers.

There is the Transcendent PCC from R1. They have past lives and the more prominent that effect the current one.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

The Cold Blooded from Merc Adventures only keep 4 of their skills before the transformation.

Drew please stop being so contrary. It's clear "class" is a fill-in term I am using for things which have no label whatsoever. It's simply to use than stuff like "add-on".

You are also wrong because "wiped of memories" is EXACTLY what the text says.

I guess we can include Rifter stuff too. =/ Will add that and Giant's
