The Pacific Northwest
I have been using my Google-fu in an attempt to find canon information on the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S. I remember from my previous venture into Rifts that there was no information on the region aside from it being unexplored and wild. I seem to recall there not being any societies in the region.
Is there any regional information in any of the books that further expands on the core?

Re: The Pacific Northwest
World Book 7 underseas has mention of kingdoms there (look in the write up for the Merovingian Tank..)
World Book 14 new west has creatures that are common there, some detail on enviroment, and mentions that Cyberknights frequent the area due to there being a training school somewhere in that region.
World Book 15 spirit west has details on native americans fro mthe region, as well as the "preserves", major multitribal native american nations. the west coast has two of the larger ones.
World Book 20 canada has some creatures from the area, as well as the Cyberhorsemen of Ixion and the Tundra rangers.. two societies (one Dbee, one human) that are big in the old canadian parts of the west coast.

Also, depending on your definition of "Northwest," the Canada book also has info on a post-rifts Kelowna BC, now under the protection of a family of Ogopogo Dragons (fun, but kind of funny, too). All in all, the PNW is a fairly open canvas for you and fellow creative GM's to play with (most other canon material has been provided by another poster, and well, too).
Re: The Pacific Northwest
I will be picking up Canada to take a look at.
I grew up in Washington and didn't realize anyone even considered B.C. part of the Pacific Northwest until I hit up Wikipedia earlier today. They also leave out Idaho apparently.

Re: The Pacific Northwest
There is not much cannon for the west coast. The writers mostly focus on the area they know. There is lots of potential to draw on, but most people not from the north west are not likely to know the are and the local lore. I understand them sticking to the area that they know and are most familiar with.
When you think about it thou there is allot of stuff in the Pacific north west. Washington state alone has 3 major military installations, and large manufacturing. You also have the lore around Mt ST Hellions - and the trio of fire. The west cost Native American tribes are significantly different from the tribes of the great planes. So the area has a rich backdrop that you can build on, as it is not really defined in cannon you can shape it to your tastes for your campaign. I have my own setting info that I use for it.

It is a pretty rich area history wise. A lot of tribes in the area as well. I grew up in the same area you're listed as living in. The county is actually named after one of my ancestors. Though in all the games I played I don't think we once used the area as our setting.

And according to 'rumor' (SoT 4: CyberKnights, page 21) there's a CyberKnight training camp / monastery somewhere around Wyoming, Montana, or Nebraska, with a second around Calgary or Saskatchewan.

I can only think of one game of the top of my head that uses Seattle as the main setting, and that is about it for focus on Pacific north west. Some times I think the only thing people know about is Seattle. I am no longer in grays harbor but there is a group that I know down there they play at dark steel gaming by the Hoquiam YMCA.

Re: The Pacific Northwest
Funny thing the pacific northwest is about the only part of the west coast that has any lore from world books actually written. Canada/spirit west have the most information about it although a lot of it is more centered on BC but that area and seattle sort of flow together.
I actually think lemuria has a few brief mentions of some of the tribes from the pacific northwest that have dolphin/whale shaman/totem warriors that interact with the undersea communities in the area.

I'll be picking up those books to check them out. There's no information on California anywhere? I assumed a good portion along the coast was flooded, but assumed something cool would be happening in the Redwoods.

I am assuming you're thinking Shadowrun? Never played, but I think Seattle is important in it? I know White Wolf used Portland a couple times.
Not familair with Dark Steel Gaming...but that location I am thinking of the comic shop that was there last time I was in the area?
Re: The Pacific Northwest
All I can recall being said of what is on the west of the rockies was some vague hints at really strange stuff going on there. I have always wondered if KS has some plans for what he wants to spring up there at some point

Probably. but with his imagination...you can figure there is about a dozen ideas in line ahead of that one.

No the comic store was front line comics it went out of business. Dark Steel gaming is the local gaming store. They are still building inventory up fairly small right now. They have all the major gaming distributors and several game groups. If you live in the Aberdeen area they would be your local store.

I no longer live in the state, but I'll pass the information along to friend's back home. Any connection between Dark Steel and the comic shop? Went into the comic place one time with a buddy and haven't felt less welcome.
So how much of the Olympics do you think went down the tube with the raising of the oceans?
Re: The Pacific Northwest
Totally different management. The guy running the comic store was doing it because his dad made him. The crew of the game store are doing it because they want to most are volunteer at this point as it has not grown to the point where it can pay to have staff. The times I went there they had several card games going and they run torments but if you need help some one will by happy to give you a hand.

I may debate canon and RAW, but the games I run are highly house ruled. So I am not debating for how I play but about how the system works as written.
