With the megamillions jackpot up to $425m (estimated) and my 3 chances at winning I've been thinking of lotteries and got to wondering who runs lottery games inside your Palladium games?

How is it set up? Have you ever had a player win?

I don't but its not a bad idea.

I'd say 3-6 D10 to randomly pick a 6 number sequence..and have players roll to see if they win.

Could also once every game session have a random GM roll to see if some lucky NPC gets those millions...so your PC's know who to mug..

I can imagine it in a highly civilized area, but other than that there either isn't enough money, or people would get robbed too fast.

You've better odds of being hit by lightening than winning one of those jackpots.

If you have it like that in the game world, then there's not much point to having it in the game.

I think we had some better odds gambles and its fun to enter - just don't make it available all the time. Just break up play with a bit - adventure, some gamble, adventure, some gamble. Not just gamble, gamble, gamble.

Competitive gambling i can see, SF, lotteries are tricky in a world like Rifts though...

Never had the opportunity to but would certainly give it a try if the opportunity did come around. Some I've seen though wouldn't allow it since they don't want ANY hope of a windfall coming to a PC, especially for a character that can manipulate probabilities. I doubt they'd let a PC even play cards or flip coins to bet on.

It's 'canon', not 'cannon'. A cannon is a big gun like on pirate ships, canon is what you mean when referring to something as being contained within one of the books such as how many dice to roll for a stat.

Some games have it all wrong though. I remember playing the Star Wars Legacy Edition and winning a fortune with little to no gambling skill. I stopped before my GM got mad, fortunately for me.
