Invid Commander & Invid Overlord Attacks

Unread post by Sparticus »

I just started my long awaited Robotech game in my alternate universe and I have noticed that the Invid Commander Battloid and the Invid Overlord only get as many attacks as their pilots have from hand to hand combat training unlike the other machines through the other factions who's machines add +1 attack at certain levels. Now I can understand the other Invid mecha not having this feature because the pilots are literally joined with the mecha but for the Invid Commander Battloid and the Invid Overlord are piloted like other mecha who's pilots can embark and disembark from the mecha at will should they not do the same? Normally I would not give this much thought but I have a player playing as a humanoid Invid and I noticed that they do not have close to the number of attacks in their mecha as the other players despite all being the same level and many having the same Hand to Hand combat training as he.

As a test I was going to give the Invid Commander Battloid the same attack generation as the Alpha and the Invid Overlord the same attack generation as the Beta.

For example, Let's say the Alpha gave its pilot a +1 attack per melee round every three levels, now the Invid Commander Battloid will do the same.

Is this too much or is this good, suggestions will be appreciated.

I say that's completely fair.

Mind you I rewrote how robot combat elite and the mecha bonuses so I'm not a good one to really comment
I am very opinionated. Yes I rub people the wrong way but at the end of the day I just enjoy good hard discussion and will gladly walk away agreeing to not agree :D

Well that was brutal, and I like it so very much. This is was makes the Invid Invasion period so much fun.

On another note I found on page 74 of the Robotech: The New Generation Sourcebook that the evolved Invid get +2 attacks per melee round when piloting ether the Invid Command Battloid of the Overlord.

So using my earlier post my players Invid character is 7th level and has 5 attacks/actions per melee. He pilot's an Overlord which by the rules in The New Generation Sourcebook add 2 attack while piloting it so now he has 7 attacks/actions while piloting the Overlord. Now if I do what I was going to do an assign the overlord the same attack generation as the Beta grants its pilot he would get an extra attack/action at levels 2, 4, 8 and 12. This would mean by 7th level he would now have 9 attacks/actions while piloting the Overlord.

Is this too much, dose it unbalance everything or is this alright. I personally think it makes the Invid player comparable to others and their mecha but then again I am probably bias so any thoughts or comments on the matter would be very welcomed.

I tend to use the Invid bonuses from the book as they are.
