Disarm Question
I'm curious how disarm really works. The Game Master Guide indicates that an opponent is disarmed on a natural roll of 19 or 20 when used as a defensive move. What about when used as an attack action? Is it just if the attacker rolls higher on the disarm that the weapon/object is knocked out of his hand?

Re: Disarm Question
Far as I know, when used as an attack, it doesn't require a natural roll. I figure you would have to roll a 5 (exceed 4) or 8 (if ranged, exceed 7) unless the opponent parries or dodges in which case you would have to exceed that roll.

Re: Disarm Question
This depends on several things.
The first is the presumption that it can be used as an attack
Assuming that it can, then there is a question of if it is a normal combat maneuver, or requires a called shot to the weapon.
The other issue is what game system your using, since the different games have had their own, slightly different rules published.

The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.

True, more often than not I get the impression that called-shot disarms are a ranged weapon thing and not needed to disarm with a HtH weapon. At higher tiers, usually done to take advantage of higher called-shot strike bonuses (like from sharpshooting or some OCCs).
