The Future of the Coalition States?

The original Sourcebook 1, on page 20, has a blurb about the Coalition States' government which lays out the following:
Unless Karl Prosek is killed by the enemy, he will rule and build the Coalition Empire for the next 20 years. He is loved and revered by the people and they willingly give him their complete support and loyalty. His son, Joseph Prosek II, will inherit the title Emperor and become an even more capable and cunning ruler than his father. His rule will last over 30 years and fall into the ready hands of his sons, bred from birth for the job. It is only during this third generation of Prosek emperors that the Coalition's power may show weakness and begin to significantly falter.

This section was dated as 102 P.A., before some of the more major events in North America occurred. My question is this: Now that events such as the Juicer Uprising, the succession of Free Quebec, the War on Tolkeen, and the Minion War have come to pass in the official timeline, does this still hold true? Why or why not?

In general, I'd say the future is open to many possibilities.

In this specific case, I'd ask if that passage from SB1o was reprinted in SB1r. My suspicion is that it was not, and that it was deliberately removed by the author. SB1o was written around 1992 (if my memory serves) and Rifts has changed a lot since then.

So I'd call that future a possibility, but not a certainty.

The minion war could be a game changer. It could force a level of close cooperation between the various forces in north america that could wind up having significant impacts on all the major players and also increase the chance of faster turnover amongst leadership as demon plagues care little about who you are.

I'm actually wanting the CS to finally be reunited with the Vanguard. If they can start to figure out that not all Pychics, Mages, and DBees are evil they might actually be able to unify against the Minion War. Otherwise this could get really nasty.

Though maybe a massive war which destroys everything would be an awesome reset of the game setting?

That is kinda my hope as well not a full embrace of magic but a realization it can be a useful tool if controlled and reinstitute something like the vanguard as a special special forces.

I'd replace "Unless Karl Prosek is killed by the enemy" with "unless something unexpected interferes."
The demons showing up, a xiticix invasion, Atlantean aggression, or any number of other things MIGHT interfere with that happening.

It would be 'killed by the enemy' even if he tripped and broke his neck in the bathroom or choked on a cocktail olive. That's one of the perks of having a state-run media presided over by immediate family; no (publicly-acknowledged) undignified deaths in the family. :P

True!
But I was saying that he doesn't even have to be killed to mess things up for the CS.

"Caught in a compromising position, nude, in the Coalition Sports Center skybox, kissing Erin Tarn? Pops, I'm Minister of Information, not a miracle worker. The sort of spin control necessary to cover that up, it would be easier to reverse the rotation of the Earth."

The future of the coalition?

I propose they'll develop new rail gun that looks like a skull and fires skull shaped bullets. The backpack containing the nuclear power supply will also be skull shaped.

As he gets a little older Karl will decide to grow a mustache in order to look a little more distinguished. Nothing big and showy, just a little patch under the nose.

A new third wave of coalition equipment is created via a scientific development system his scientists describe as "power creep." This third wave will be ridiculously powerful, outperforming the best of a number of supposedly technologically superior nations. This third wave will include a skelebot that's basically a snowman of skulls.

The exiled survivors of Tolkeen will, after years of struggle and peril, develop a new spell to retake their homeland. They will cast the Status Quo spell and return Tolkeen to it's former glory. The Coalition will then promptly invade.

I don't think that there's anything in more recent books to give the impression that Karl's reign won't continue, and that it won't pass on to Joe II.

The war on Tolkeen had been building for years (and was a victory), the "war" against Free Quebec was settled diplomatically, and the Juicer Uprising was little more than a black eye.

Karl's reign will likely continue unabated (and yes, he will likely grow a moustache). The real question in regards to the 'Future of the Coalition States' comes not from Karl, but his son Joseph II (who by this point should already have a moustache). There is nothing in the books so far, that have suggested that this isn't where things are going. Personally, I think J2 will be the downfall of the CS Empire. He may be smarter and more media-savy than his old man, but I can't help but think that he'll push things too far.

J2 will have an unfortunate accident, leaving the throne for his toddler son, who will be raised by a man of humane principle. the CS will then become much nicer and be invaded by FQ, who will take over and make it the United States of Canadia.

Lol!

Don't forget Archie 3 will stumble upon a great weakness of mankind. After observing his pet psi tech, he will realise humans get sexually aroused and that it makes them more impressionable.

He redesigns his Shem's to be pornstars and begins to sell their exploits to all. As the biggest purveyor of smut on the continent he finds even The CS turn a blind eye towards these filthy dbees and their insatiable hot bodies, he begins putting subliminal messages into all his productions.

That was... awfully detailed.

Prosek IIs Cunning:
- Vanguard p10-11 - Undercover as double alias & mutual goal ally, coordinating CS efforts/intelligence as such.
- Lonestar p100-103 - Hand picked agent to infiltrate/observe Lonestar/Desmond Bradford 'found dead' while travelling outside protected areas ("juicer attack") with false personal reports/documents

Future Issues:
- Lonestar p105 Desmond Bradford Disposition/probable violent ending & destruction of vital CS R&D
+ difficult replacing DB (p104) + 'explosive implants in skulls' of many key scientists (p105)
