Advanced Recon

Having read through the complete deluxe manual (skimmed through some parts such as mission ideas, some weapon specs, etc), I assume the Advanced Recon section can be a stand alone game pretty much. Is this assumption correct?

Yes, the setting and character templates are to be used independently of the main book...but the combat rules are the same IIRC.
