Clarification on some Spells

Unread post by VIsgar »

In Library Of Bletherad PF 12 under Shadow Magic is the level 10 spell Cloak of Darkness and if a creature gets swallowed up by it the lose half their HP but it leaves SDC alone.

How should this spell be converted to an MD setting?

Also in Shadow Magic is Shadow Self a level 13 spell that turns you into a creature of pure shadow/magic that no longer needs to eat or breathe. Would that qualify them for going EVA without a space suit?

Is it possible to create walls in space not touching or falling on anything?

How does Chameleon work in space?
If you were crouched down on shuttle motionless, but the shuttle was flying along would you stay blended into the shuttle and/or background?

How would Shadow Meld work? Or how far from a star would you have to be to be in darkness?

I would say either 1/2 your MDC, or maybe 1/3.
Basically as I see it, your MDC are 'HP' for all intents and purposes.

Theoretically there is still the cold and radiation and stuff to deal with...
...but honestly thematically a being of shadow wandering around space sounds about right, so I would allow it in a heart beat as it seems to fit the nature of the spell

You can create a wall in the air... and it wont 'fall' unless it is in a gravity field, in which case it will react like any other material.
The walls don't fall on a planet because of magic... they fall because of gravity.

Exactly the same as it always does, you visually blend in against the background your on.
So stand on a shuttle, you will blend into a shuttle sure

I would say you need an actual shadow, which is not just darkness, it is darkness cast by the imposition of an object into the light creating an area of greater darkness than the surrounding area.
So you could Shadow Meld into the shadow cast by a stations solar panels... but you can't just Shadow Meld into thin air, no matter how far out in space you are.
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.

Agrees with Eli.

Thou the last bit needs a bit of rewording...
If you are in Deep space with out anything that casts a shadow around you, there is no shadow to meld with.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
