Hi all, in my quest to become a Megaversal Ambassador i am going to run a Rifts game at my local RPG Store.
I need a little advice for pregens, starting level etc.
First attempt at running a store game.

Pregens: Totally dependant on the plot of your game. I like to make 1 or 2 more than I need so that everyone gets to choose a character. I also like to leave secondary skills blank and have the players pick them as needed. I would stick to main book characters if you're trying to "introduce" Rifts to a group. Keep things as simple as you can on the character.
Level: If this is a one-shot then there's no reason to start at level 1. I like to assign an xp value and see how it makes different classes different levels.

Re: First attempt at running a store game.
Make the pregens main book characters, like metioned above, but the NPC can be a bit more exotic characters from worlds books, so the players get a peek of "whats out there" and get them hooked into other possibilities
You'll take my life but I'll take yours too
You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through
So when you're waiting for the next attack
You'd better stand there's no turning back

Re: First attempt at running a store game.
I use:
Rifts Sample Characters – 20 complete characters to hand out to players, use as NPCs, etc.
from:
Rifts Game Master Kit
here:
http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/96335/Rifts-Game-Master-Kit?manufacturers_id=2627
Sometimes I copy them out of the PDF into word and rearrange them a little....
Also a good reference to see how to make some of your own pre-gens
