In RUE it indicates that Diamonds & Emeralds can be used to store PPE.
Pg 133 indicates (for a Diamond) --- lists several spells that can be instilled in a TW device and, "Can also be used to store P.P.E."
Pg 133 indicates (for a Emerald) --- lists several spells that can be instilled in a TW device and, "Can also be used to store P.P.E."
Pg 131-132 indicates, "Note: an Emerald can hold up to 10 P.P.E. per carat, while a diamond can hold up to 20 P.P.E. per carat."
Are these specific gems able to store PPE when not used within the TW context?
Thanks for your help.

Re: PPE Storage: Gems
Off hand I cannot think of any.
But most of the GMs, that I know, use those texts to set the storage cap. for other mages using those gems as PPE batteries.
Background: The origen of the using those two gems as PPE batteries come from the Rifter article that 1st introduced the TW const. rules. (Which were modified when published in RUE.)

They can be used as PPE reservoirs for a Stone Mage as well.
But out side of those two specific magic classes? No.
Your average mage can not use an emerald or diamond to store PPE anymore than they can use a ruby to store a fireball. It is very much a class feature.
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.

Re: PPE Storage: Gems
Thanks, is anyone aware of any limiting language that specifically indicates that only the 2 OCCS (Stone Master and/or TW can use Diamonds or Emeralds as PPE storage?
The language in RUE indicates that this Storage capability is inherent to those types of Gems and limited by their size, but says nothing about prohibiting anyone else from using them.
Therefore, without limiting language, why wouldn't anyone else be able to use a Diamond or Emerald within the specified limits?

I guess they could be the target of the Talisman spell if you had it.

but if the char had the Talisman spell he would not need gems to make PPE batteries. Cuold just use a bunch of sticks or gravel to make them.
