Translating Compendium of Weapons, Armor & Castles' stats

Hi
When translating the single-digit damage ratings from the Compendium of Weapons, Armor and Castles to Palladium-compatible dice rolls (E.G. a damage rating of 1 becomes 1D6), there's a convenient table to convert according to the type of weapon: Swords/daggers, spears, pole-arms etc. But then there's a whole section that's just "miscellaneous weapons" that don't get their own conversion table... so are we just supposed to make a judgement call on what the weapon itself is? Or at least what it's closest to.

I'm fully aware what page the conversion values are on. What the book doesn't say is which conversion values to use if the weapon isn't labelled as one of the 4 categories listed on page 5. I.E. anything under the "Miscellaneous Weapons" section.

My apologies.
Most of them would fall into one or another of the listed categories in those lists.
But with others...like bull whip...you can go to a weapons listing chart in one of the main books for whip and work out the damage from there.
Otherwise best guess.
If the weapons is has multiple attack forms...like the hungamunga (African throwing irons) (throw, stab, slice, etc) then you'd have to decide what attack does how much. But again, with the hungamunga, that weapon is so variable in form that each individual weapon can have its own damage listing that vary within the weapon type.

It's going to be GM's choice, but you can use the descriptions to get a good idea. For example, bullwhip? I'd consider it a "hafted" weapon, since you have a handle for it (said handle not being much shorter than the handle of, say, a hatchet). That gives you 1D6 SDC for damage...& a Throw 4 apparently implies a penalty to use (since Throw 2 = +1 strike, & Dex 3 = no bonus).
Hunga-Munga? The description says they're "African throwing irons/knives", so it's probably safe to say that the Swords/Knives chart works & give them 1D8+2 SDC (Damage 2) & a +2 to strike (Throw 1).
The truly funky one is actually the bola. It's not a sword or knife, it's not a spear or polearm, & it's not a hafted weapon. Technically it's not a bow or crossbow either. That being said...since it's listed as Damage 1, & almost every chart gives 1D6 SDC as the option, I'd stick with that for damage. Throw 1 gives it a +2 to strike...although the confusing one is the Dex 3 (no bonus, supposedly worst of the lot).
