..Trade with the Western Empire has met new heights since the opening of the Canal. There's your hook.
..The group are running security on a trading ship that gets caught in a freak storm and shipwrecked on the northern coast of the Old Kingdom. They end up in the Town of a Dozen Fracts looking for work to pay their way back to Llorn or even on to the Western Empire. I'd say they wander the coast until they find a road and it leads them to the town, pretty easy.
..Once in the town the hooks are all laid out for you.
