Here's a question...
Why the HECK does it seem that hardly any Rifts gamers play in the Dimension book settings?!? Is it that Rifts Earth just has more appeal, or just older and has more supplements/world books compared to dimension books? If you really wanna power game...ya gotta leave Rifts Earth and make a Royle Kreegor...
. Do these other Rifts Earth gamers have any IDEA what they're missing?

The reason so many Rift games try to stay away from the DB settings is because they can turn munch too

Myself, I don't have a problem using the DB in my games because it adds a little more variety (like we need it

Re: Here's a question...
I've frequently sent my players to the dimension books. I even did a mega campaign for my mercs where they broke up into teams and went to Manhunter, Robotech Earth, Nightbane Earth, Phase World and Worm Wood. All to retrieve various magical components to build a pyramid. Yeah that was a cool game!

Same here, in one of the games we just paused (just joined a group that rotates GMs) we went from Rifts: Earth to Worm Wood and then we split, half went back to Rifts: Earth (current campaign) and the other half went to Phase World.

Re: Here's a question...
I'm glad so many more dimension books have come out just recently. Perhaps this will "excite" those "non-dimension book" players/GMs into buying and playing this unique and colorful setting. I'm so very tired of meeting a new Rifts player...asking him about Phase World or any dimension book besides Wormwood (which I like by-the-way...
)...and them giving me a...
...or a
...maybe even a...
...or if I'm REALLY lucky a...

I enjoy the Dimension Books as extras to the standard Rifts WB's. Now, I think more books should be done for Rifts Earth than the DB's in a year (at one point, I think 4 books for Phase World came out and 1 for Rifts in a year). The great thing about the DB's are the pre-generated settings that can be used to cross over into Rifts Earth, and vice versa. Many great games are not limited to just one solid setting.
That brings me to my current venture in Rifts right now, it is starting in Phase World with a Human Mind Melter, an Atlantean Shifter, and a Rahu-Man Invincible Guardsman. This allows me to use any planet within the Three Galaxies (and boy are there alot, some described, some not), allows for the use of other Dimensions (thanks to DB7:Megaverse Builder), an appearance in Wormwood, and an appearance on ANYWHERE in Rifts. I emphasis anywhere because people get tired of sitting in North America. And if I really want to get wierd, I can take Dimensional travel to a whole new level by using Robotech, Macross II, Heroes Unlimited, PFRPG, and Manhunters (the other Palladium/Rifts compatable settings I own) for adventures.
It's all about the adventure you want. Some people like to keep it local, some continnental, some global, other galatic, or dimensional, just have fun.
Now, I can say the best adventure comes from the Dimension hopping, artifact collecting, save the world type stories, as long as everyone is willing to stick with it.

The reason so many Rift games try to stay away from the DB settings is because they can turn munch tooquick. So, instead of dealing with it, GM avoid the temptation in the first place.
Myself, I don't have a problem using the DB in my games because it adds a little more variety (like we need it) to the run of the mill Rifts game. Nothing stirs up a Rifts NA game like throwing in a couple Kreeghors or Oni to throw players for a loop.
well... I just wish I could roam the 3 galaxies, but my GM keeps us tethered around Tolkeen (ok, the tether is long enough to reach mexico....) and at the rate we are playing, the war will still be going on in 3 or 4 years...
and NEVER say that down to rifts earth games are less munch than 3 galactic ones... what with the Onn Ninja who can handle a rune sword armed master vampire by himself, the techno psi demigod with a spell book the size of the Library of Congress, the 7th level human psi warrior is the runt of the litter..;, the fact that we have personally handed the Möbius to Zurvan and frequently have Thoth over for drinks and some mary jane... and I'm not talking of our ATV with the croc swamp and mountain peak inside... and you think that hosting a party for some cosmo knights and royal kreeghor is munch?
