HU Bestiary

Some point soon Im going to be adding a bestiary for both the ancient fantasy world and modern day world. Things like modern elementals (which some of us discussed in a previous topic).

Im just wondering do the rest of you thing I should:
1. Keep the fantasy and modern day bestiaries seperate, one on each of my sites.
2. Have a single bestiary section but instead list what eras the monsters are available in. For instance a glass elemental would not be available until the year when glass became widely used.

That's not a bad idea... though to be honest, when I saw the thread's title I started having visions of Melechs, Grpyhons, and Zavors running amok down the streets of modern-day cities.

Hmmm... I wonder how an infestation of Zavors would affect the nice little town of Conway, South Carolina? :demon:

Conway is a real-life town in South Carolina, in which my co-GM and I have based our "Loralton Academy" pbem campaign -- our own spin on the X-universe. It's about 10 min. northwest of Myrtle Beach.

My sincerest apologies if anyone currently living there has been displaced by the establishment of the Loralton property... and I promise to relocate them to a nearby swamp inhabited by only an ogre and his annoying talking donkey.

I wasn't doubting its existence, just wondering about its location.

Well, that's the skinny on both. Call it a bonus package. :D

Also, you can go to www.mapquest.com and enter in "Conway, South Carolina" to get a bit more info.

BTW, I think MapQuest is a godsend for those playing modern-day RPGs.

*blinks* Oh, sorry for hijacking the original thread there Marcantony. :D

S'ok. At the Gateway forums the owner also suggested;

"I like the eras idea, personally. I'd also classify them by setting. Post-apocalyptic vs. medieval agricultural for example. You may get someone who's created a world that doesn't go on our timeline. So perhaps, what you're calling eras shouldn't be demarcated by years but instead by capabilities or societal levels -- industrial, agrarian, service economy, etc."

Ill have to think about this

The owner has a good point. I'd definitely consider classifying by setting.

In the first section, list the creature(s) available in each "age."

In the second section, list the stats for real-world "monsters" (lions and tigers and bears, oh my!).

In the third section, list stats for mythological monsters (weres, vampires, sphinxi, pegasi, etc...)

:D

No...no, unless they can travel in time and have visited the past...yes, if they have visited our dimention in the past, otherwise, no.

"Tentacle monster" is a colloquial term for a type of extraterrestrial menace common to Japanese pornography.
