Old senerio....

Near the outer rim of the Corkscrew galaxy, is a coloney of rogue spacers who have been conducting experiments on a spacestation deep within CCW territory. These spacers are actually highly trained rogue scientist from the TGE. Having fled the Kreegor for numerous reasons (the most being mistreatment and under payment) these audacious young engineers risk everything for the sake of technological advancement. Seizing control of the spacestation was no simple task (which involved rerouting certain power conduits and gaining control of the environmental regulation system).

The scientist were working on a new type of propulsion/power system based on perpetual motion, gravity, and kinetics. This system was very unstable because it required absolute perimeter stablization (internal and external). The massive impact of missile bombardment from Kreegor recovery officials (deep within CCW "air-space" no less) caused the engine to malfunction. The spacestation had a contra-gravity drive which coupled with the "continuity engine" caused a major gravitational field to form around the area. The resulting holocaust destroyed most of the spacestation and killed the scientist. All that remains is a large chunk of metal with an unusually stable field of debris.

6 months later, distress signals are received on the CAF patrol shuttle "Arguine". Capt. Yusala Nargo relayed the message back to "main". The message was concerning an attack on a local military station from Kreegor assailants. A crew of short range fighters are dispatched to investigate.

Sinker: The spacestation is emitting a potent gravitation field which has a radius of about 25 miles. Anything caught within this field will be pulled towards the station and requires at least a speed of Mach 20 in space (as a note: Attempting to reach FTL will result in drive failure, and contra-gravity drives will be rendered useless).

sounds less rogue squadron, and more wraith squadron. (thos who enjoy the X-wing series will know what i mean.)

How about something along the lines of the Black Sheep Squadron from WW2? The TV show while not being perfectly accurate, was a good basis.
