Luna - it was actually a Dyasha Demon (rifts mercs) that my GM had us run into several times. definatly the best villin I've encountered.

Desmond Bradford, most definitely. A mind like a vibro-blade, natural sense of utter superiority, and a dark, chilling genius. Guy's just class :D

I'm reminded of that line from PotC:

"This is either brilliance... or madness..."
"Yes, it's amazing how often those two are confused..."

Okay, so I'm paraphrasing -- but you get the idea. :D

I can't argue with that statement. Bradford has all the makings of a classic criminal mastermind. I'd rate him as the single most dangerous individual on the North American continent... and probably one of the top five in all of Rifts Earth (even including non-humans like Splynncryth).

Erin Tarn... she has won the hearts and minds of the people, and is ready to drop the charade... soon the world will be hers as the masses rise against the CS, joined by their brothers across the sea in the NGR. She will use Slynncryth to spank the Lord of the Deep, and set herself up as the Queen of the Rifts... then on to Wormood, where the people will rejoice as she house-trains the Unholy and enslaves the world with metaphorical nonsense...
Eyes without life, maggot-ridden corpses, mountains of skulls... these are a few of my favourite things.

Depends upon whether or not you're human, can't read and abhor magic. In that case, yes, the CS are good guys. If you are non-human, or use magic or think for yourself, then you'll find yourself staring down the barrel of a C-27 Plasma rifle.

It's all in the perception, Lynx... it's all in the perception.

As for me, I'm defining my villains as anyone with an Anarchist or Evil alignment... and let's face it, there are a lot of CS individuals who fall into that category.

My favorite is Alistair Dunscon! My GM plays him exeptionally well. He makes him a really terrible villain to have to deal with because his schemes are always very convoluted and confusing (because he's insane). My GM also makes him incredibley powerful and he ranks as the 4th most powerful magic user on Rifts Earth besides The 3 Lords of Magic (Brethan being the #1) and Plato.

Lord Splynncryth wrote:I'll second Mr. Lyboc and also say "look to the left". Splynncryth is perhaps the first, maybe out of any system, god like Jell-O being that isn't a evil-for-evils-sake villain. He isn't out to "rule the world" or eat babies or raise a cult; he's a business man, an eco-freak (insane pollution control on Atlantis), a organizer, and a being with a great sense of humor. He is also, paradoxically is one of the most feared threats and greatest saviours to the population of Earth. Time and time again he has rose to the defense against the Mechanoids, vampires, Xiticix and beings much more evil and perhaps powerful than he is. Splynncryth is the sole reason more insanely powerful god like creatures have either not come or stayed long on Earth. With a villain of this much depth, it's pretty easy to work out why he is one of, if not the, best villains on Rifts Earth.

Yup...why would he want to (seriously) consider conquering Earth? HE already has HOW many planets, stellar systems and pocket dimentions under his direct control?!

Let's also consider the setup Splynnie's got in Atlantis. For a 'monster race' it combines the best elements of Las Vegas, Disneyland, and the French Riviera all in one location. He's got a good thing going, and he's smart enough to not blow it on something like small-minded conquest.

Besides, the current chaos that is Rifts Earth provides endless opprortunities for entertainment and friendly (as well as not-so-friendly) wagering. You conquer the whole world and eliminate all these great conflicts, you lose the entertainment value. From Splynnie's perspective, it's like being surrounded by soap-opera reality shows -- all at no charge to him. Why spoil things when they're so much to your benefit?

One of the reasons I like rifts is because some of the villans are NOT cardboard cutout 'evil' guys. Lookat the CS. They would gun down in cold blood a village of d-bees, and then administer the most tender love and mercy to a single sick human child. Other 'villans' are similar. As far as ARCHIE is concerned, he thinks he's doing the right thing for humanity and the world as a whole, but he is a truly devious SOB and I'll give him my number #1 spot. Splynn... hmmm... He's anarchist, which means he 'swings both ways'. He IS an evil bugger, trading in slaves and whatnot, but having re-read atlantis again, I was staggered to find that a sizeable percentage of humans (unless I misread it somewhere, about 30-40%) who live there are FREE. Also, some of the 'slave' races have been slaves for so long (tens of thousands of years) they likely have evolved into a cultural symbiosis with their masters, and are more like 'indentured servants'. If you let them go, they wouldn't really know what to do. Thus Splynnie and co can tattoo whole bunches of them and they happily submit to the needle as elite troops of Atlantis, even though they are human! So thus Splynn shows a certain compassion for those under his heel, in that he cares enough to keep them going. Look at the Kittani. If Splynn were so evil, would he have granted them succour? He didn't need to make enemies with the Mechanoids, being an inhuman blob himself, but he did and has prospered. He defends the world from greater threats than even the CS realises, and also from some they likely haven't even heard of yet (and there IS the line in the prophecy of the lord of the deep that seems to indicate that the splugorth may yet join the forces of light in that aspect anyway). I don't really see the splugorth as evil at all. They're businessmen, just like the Naruni. They would happily sell even the poorest village on rifts earth bio-wizard or kittani stuff. Of course, if they failed to pay...... off to the arena with them. It's a wonderful dichotomy.
I'd get up in the morning and watch the sun rise over the yardarm of my sky-ship as the sails billowed in the breeze and the land slid by 300-odd metres below. I'd grasp the mahogany ship's wheel, turn her nose a few points back onto the line, and feel pity for all those poor bastards below who have to work for a living. - My idea of the good life in Rifts.

Steampunk SAMAS finally built!

King Robert Creed

Unread post by ApocalypseZero »

I find myself torn here. I like Splynncryth. Great guy. Viva At-lantis!! (sing it like Elvis)

But I'm going to have to put my vote on King Robert Creed. Once a man of great respect, turned by hatred and evil stemming from war, and then absoving his wrongs by whatever means a GM will have (until Siembieda does something more with him). He's human, and I mean human, not an altered human or a human that drank an immortality potion or whatever. He's one of my favorite OCC's (Ley Line Walker), and only level 10, so he has more room to grow. (Unlike Splynny, who is a 15th lvl Mage, Tattoo Artist, Entertainer, Drug Dealer, and Sculptor (sp?) )

But I wouldn't be fair if I didn't say that I like all the villains.

Then again there's my REAL fave... the Angels of Death and Vengeance. Call me a technophile, but I'd go out with them... four arms for a hella backrub, or the soft soothing voice as I watch the Angel of Death eviscerate some poor schmoe, describing to him/ her what's being done... all without much in the way of sedatives...

they raided his base with That Old Half Cyborg, Hagan got wasted by the mechanoids , Shemarrians went on revolt after the ABM mechanoids began talking to them, and the Pcs sought Archie out in the astral plane and brought in a pack of Shape shifting Dragons and shadow beasts to destroy the real archie. The Fake archie was taken out by a larger Coalition of mutants, Robots, and Dbees.

Ummm...isnt it impossible for the Shemarrians to rise up against ARCHIE considering that he programmed them....

what if they gained sentience? It could happen. Maybe ARCHIE is too smart for his own good?

anyway, my favortie villains are the Mechanoids. Most evil beings in existence. They eat planets.
No, maybe you didn't hear me. They EAT PLANETS.

Actually, someone like Splynn doesn't have to be limited by Level 15... Look at Toth - level 30 in two or three classes, and level 15-20 in two or three others!

OK, one's a god, one's an AI with more MDC than most any three other gods, but can't do "god" things...so what? Dragons can go to level 20 before "peaking," so why not an AI?! :D

Well actually Thoth is a great Old One, who could use Slynncryth to spank the Lord of the Deep, if he so chose... he's as far beyond a mere Alien Intelligence as a human is above an ant. Thus his levels...

well... either he's able to do that just as "plain Thoth" , with the abilities he remembers of, or he just can't ... if his memories of being Xy came back, and he regained the abilities thereof, he would stop being Thoth... and if they don't, well, there's no way he's going to tap his abilities as an Old one without knowing how.

Of course, it only happens with people eat both Mexican and Chinese food all in one day... so as long as you don't do that in Rifts you should come to no harm.
