I just use the CS Tech Officer for field medic, and Body fixer or Cyber-doc for the officer doctors.

I've got a mostly-finished Rifter submission on this very subject. Maybe when I get a little spare time I'll finish it up and send it in.

Listed with the non-combat CS OCC's on page 52 of CWC, along with several others. No its not detailed out but it is there.

Also in either Aftermath or one of the SoT books there is mention of a "Medical Specialist" which is described as doctors with basic grunt training.

Your suggestion however, is valid.

I wouldn't give the Medical Doctor skill to a Medic. That should be reserved for, well, Doctors. I'd give:

First Aid +30%
Paramedic +15%
Field Surgery +10% (tailored for a medic, no open heart surgeries etc...)
Biology +10%
Holistic Medicine OR Identify Plants & Fruits +10%

I know First Aid and Paramedic are kind of redundant, but the character can use whichever one is more appropriate for the current situation. And considering how much time CS troops spend in the field, Holistic Medicine or Id. Plants & Fruits may be appropriate.

We really really don't need a seperate book of medical characters. If you really want make a list with various healers, shamans, doctors ect.

What does everyone think of CS medics being minor or even major psychics with healing abilities? Is that pushing it with CS standards, or would it be accepted in emergency medicine?

yeah, right... see what comes from taking stuff straight from one setting right into another without checking. There's one too many between paramedic and MD : the HU program has both because only Master and PhD level education characters can have MD, so the others get paramedic instead... also, criminal science/forensics as part of a MOS? I don't see the CS training its combat medics in that ... basically useless.

the Combat Medic MOS should be more like
biology
pathology
paramedic
field surgery

the Full MD skill should be reserved for military doctor types, that is body fixers or cyberdoc, with a smattering of military skills to round them up (well, in good theory, military etiquette should be the most important, that kind of personnel does not go in the field very often, they wait for those who the field medics cannot patch up by themselves), or, of course, equivalents to the NGR military doc

I created a special forces medic. Take the normal special forces character. For MOS skills, select from medical and science skills. A +5% to any science and medical skills for OCC related. Most medics are also snipers.

That's what I do.

Yep. I do that as well. In hindsight I'm realy surprised Kev didn't include Medic MOS to the Tech Officer OCC. It seems so intuitive.

That seems like a good selection. All the above are necessary, but the Field Surgry skill is absolutely esential in the Mega Damage environmnet of Rifts Earth. Without it, there would be no real way to save lives out in the field.

that's not all that happens. people get sick, they get scraped and impact damage even IN their intact armor.

Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember somebody on some website that had a CS medic OCC called the "Battle Angel" or some such rot as that

anybody elsee remember this?

A) it has already been proposed

B) if you're ready to let a medic who's illiterate operate on you, you're free ... but as for myself, I wouldn't let such a one get within a mile of my sweet bod

Yes, a cyborg occ - we can add that to the list of ideas. I googled it:
