looks good, but I think you did what it was fairly obvious they were trying to avoid. . . making the ninja's too powerful compared to everyone else.

Just skimmed...but it looks good.

On a skim, the only complaint I can reasonably come up with is that the loss of the HU/N&SS skill system "vanillaises" them to a degree...the limited skills of a Worldly Artist or Dedicated Martial Artist were part of their "charm."

Well, its tougher than the Japaners, thats for sure.... maybe this would make a good alternate Dedicated Martial Artist for HU, or something, or just its own thing... I mean, this guy can't beat up an Adarok or maybe even a Dragon or certainly a super-hero... Hard to say-it could unbalance some games, but in others it would fit in...

dunno, depends on the dragon, is it hatchling? they'd have a chance. and the superhero cound be pretty darned easy, only a few Superpowers provide MDC

This is a Rifts class ---- "ninja" are completely different on a N&SS/HU world, with a different skill system. Of course, you could always "rift" a N&SS ninja into your campaign.

Already did something to that effect...an Ancient Master to be precise. :D

If you want, maybe one day I'll post him... :D

This is an interesting alternative to the (insert expletive here) Palladium version of Japan. Why is it that as soon as a ninja thinks to use modern equipment he becomes a wus? Lets see trained my whole life to become a ninja/samurai cool now I get a juicer conversion and lose all those skills and abilities... that doesn't seem right...

Call it a mental block . Those guys are trained from infancy in the belief that the powers of the body and mind are all, and that tech is an inferior crutch...
Now, for some reason they themselves resort to that crutch ... all their self assurance, trained will and belief in their powers go down the drain

The Tech-Based classes in Rifts Japan are not simply traditional ninja and samurai who decide to use technology, and do not have anywhere near the lifelong training and discipline that the Traditionalist classes do. The whole point to the tech ninja and samurai is that they use technology to try to acheive the same things that the traditionalist ninja and samurai do through hard work, and thus their abilities do not equate.

Think of it this way. If you are a professional boxer in the prime of your late 20s, say 6'4" 240lbs, and switch bodies with a 5'2" female dancer neither of you are going to be able to move and react the same way. I go with the Shock of say Juicer Transformation is so radical you lose most physical abilities related to your old life. Even if a Juicer somehow kept his HtH and physical skills he wouldn't have the mystical abilities. In my game I would let the Mystic Ninja become a Juicer, and might even let him use the Ninja HtH, and let him keep his mystical and psychic powers. The problem would be a lack of PPE and ISP to power them.

The real nastyness is if you take someone like a Cyber Knight and go munch teaching them mystical martial arts powers. I would let a CK who somehow found himself in Rift's Japan to learn Samuri Swordmanshipand hth if he found a teacher, but would probably keep him from getting the martial arts powers. To be fair, a CK could learn the Tengu HTH, along with all the MA powers from a Tengu, and one of the Dragons if your GM steered the game in that direction.
