Should I...

purchase The Island at the Edge of the World and Yin Sloth Jungles, or wait to see if they are going to reprint those with Second Edition rules. I have seen in several catalogs where it says easily converted to 2nd Ed. rules, but if they do it themselves why do it myself? So are there plans to change them to 2nd Ed. or should I just buy them now?

Flamethrowers, that's what we need. The army has them, why can't we have them too?

Hopefully you can find them at a store....might keep a eye on the classifieds here, or ebay.

ALways look on classifieds here, hoping to find all sorts of good deals on Ebay. might be able to find good copies at this little book store in Athens I know of. WAS just hoping they would make 2nd eds.

Island is a pretty interesting read ... but for some reason, I've never found the occasion to use it in my game. Nor has my character been carried thereto.

Yin Sloth is a VERY good thing. but there will be some work checking everything in it and bringing it up to 2nd ed standards.

I enjoyed Island at the edge of the world.
but found it a bit monster focused. I think it was made for Humans and elves. *damned monster races*
I am suprised it has not yet been 2nd ed'd as it has Psionic crystal stuff (weapons etc). all very cool.

NFI re yin sloth book.

In regards to a second edition version of Yin-Sloth Jungles, I think the closest they'll come for forseable future is in the pages of the Rifter. However, I don't know when most of what is convertible will be converted therein.

Well, I don't think either of those books are going to come out anytime soon for 2nd ed. The books are already there for 1st edition and it's more cost effective to put out a new book rather than a reprint. More people will buy the new product. I've heard the same thing as Cranus. That they'll put conversions of the OCC's in future Rifters, but not the entire book.

Either way, it is rather easy to convert. The only differences are the H2H & PPE. You can leave the skills the same, even though they might not exactly correspond to the 2nd ed OCC's.

I dont think PB will convert those two to 2nd ed. They never made a move in that direction after doing 2nd eds of Old Ones and High Seas. Maybe they sold not enough.

"Easily converted" ... well, some stuff is, some isnt. The Adventures are fine, many of the creatures can be found elsewhere, Crystal Magic works with 2nd ed too. on the other hand, the OCCs are quite hard to transform. but with some experience, thats okay too.

I would recommend both of them, though I like Yin-Sloth better. Island is more like a straight adventure book and has very little sourcematerial in it (could have been a book on the Old Kingdom, but alas, it isnt really). Yin Sloth is also adventure packed, unlike the later PF books starting with Book 8 by the way, but also has a lot of info about this part of the world.

cheers, Vid

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to just purchase 2nd ed now that is what I am going to be playing in. Getting these two will just make me want to also complete my 1st ed set. Darn OCD
