Daniel Bishop wrote the manuscript. I've seen him post on the Dimension Board in the past.

Pity, UWW was one of the two Palladium Books I was planning on buying this year.

Yes. Please do so as I am one of those inquiring minds.

I just want to know if my guess is incorrect.

I don't really care who writes it, Well okay I do care I love Bill's Carl's and Erick's writing so any of them would be great choices  not like I got one, anyways I just want to know WHY it needs to be rewritten. Are they fixing inconsistancies? Is it to overpowered? Does it clash with the grand scheme of things? Did the Old Ones break out of their slumber and cast some spell on the manuscirpt cursing it be forever "re-written"?

Well, my guess is...No one. Wait, is that a Rifts book? If so, it'll be rewritten soon by Carmen

Or Carl Gleba but no that was not my guess. Since no response is forthcoming from Maryann I will give you two more hints:

It does not have the spirits of Rifts and it does not follow a certain vision of Rifts. Any guesses anybody?

It says reworked, not rewritten. The author of the manuscript was Dan Bishop, who incidentally does post here on occasion.

The cover shown in the catalog currently lists the authors as Dan Bishop and Kevin Siembieda, and for all we know either, both, or neither of them may be working on the revision.

Somehow delays surprise me very little... If my Nightbane book wasn't lost I probably wouldn't be buying a new Palladium book this year. I lost my Shadows of Light book to. And, Rifters 4, but I already rebought that. Had them all together for my last Nightbane game, and the guy that owns the house we played at swears I didn't leave it. It was a book titled "Nightspawn" to. Can't find those easily anymore.

Basara_549 wrote:Speaking of rewriting stuff, how about dusting off those ancient notes for the second Mystic China book for N&S and actually getting it back on the schedule? I'm sure there's plenty of stuff you could reverse-adapt-to-SDC&Chi back from the two Rifts China books, to add content, and decrease your work time.

Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing a N&S second edition, to try to bring it more in line with HU2 or one of the other re-editioned SDC games' O.C.C. systems.

In just a few short weeks Erick will be leaving for China again. He's got a new job and a wonderful couple of years ahead of him. I'm not sure how much time he'll have while he's there for writing, but we can hope.

Which would be/is a shame. The content of Rifts Australia 2&3 is simply awesome, and Africa 2 is much needed. The first book was more just a mega-adventure module. A source book on the Africa is needed. The Nursery, well, I have no idea really, having only played HU a handful of times. BTS II, well, if Pall keep lauding themselves as a uni-system, then it needs to be brought up to date. And I see Mechanoids Space as kind of a Holy Grail unmongst Palladium Fanboys (though I could care less.).

Myself, I buy rpgs and books that take my interest. The last three Pall books that grabbed my interest were AtB, Systems Failure, and Rifts Mercs.

Why? The O.C.C. system in N&S works just fine as it is.

While I don't have much of a problem with the OCC system, I would like the combat rules brought more up to date with the rest of the line. There's a lot of neat rules that due to some changes you are not sure how to integrate them into other games.

Dude, could you at least attribute your quotes to the right people?

So what does reworked mean if not rewritten?
Assuming it's not a euphamism for a rewrite, it could mean a heavy edit.

Well, that'd be a damn thin line, now wouldn't it.

A "heavy edit" can be just a nicer way of saying "rewrite," depending upon how much editing is needed, but it isn't necessarily so. It could mean fixing game mechanic inconsistencies or other issues, but not actually touching the "fluff" text, as one example, or removing certain things but having to go through the remaining text to close all the holes that leaves without changing anything beyond that. A rewrite implies radical changes to the direction of the manuscript beyond the scope of such examples. And, I'm not saying "reworking" isn't being euphamistic, merely providing alternatives.

Excuse me. As I don't know of any quicker way other than manually entering the name, I normally don't bother attributing quotes. When I posted I thought the original quotation would have been intact.

Has that ever been done?
Juicers are so hopped up on drugs that their reflexes are hyper-fast and the rest of the world around them seems to be moving in slow motion. Which means that they are likely the only ones to be able to keep up with the Palladium rule changes... - Killer Cyborg

Speaking honestly and not to sound like an ass, but, while assuming that this is a common part of an editors duties, one need only look at some of the many inconsistencies that crop up between books to show that Palladium needs to improve its process of ensuring internal consistency. I don't know if PB's particular process leaves this entirely to the individual editor to sort out in a given manuscript, but many game companies also use line editors/supervisors who look over the manuscript before and/or after the manuscript editor to look for just such things.
