New weapon concept!

A take off of the NGR "Maysies". The Magnetically Attached Laser Saboteur: or MALS.
The magnetic disc attaches as Maysies, then the fun begins. It activates a series of micro-lasers in tandem all pointed into the target at the point of attachment.
NG-601 M.A.L.S.
Range: Touch (Must be attached to activate as a safety)
Damage: 6D6 MDC per melee to the same location, for 5 melees
Payload: 5 melees, then recharge as an empty NG Power Pack.
MDC: 8
Cost: 17,000 CR. Rarely available.
What do you think?
Thanks,

kinda interesting idea ya got there. A tad cheap but otherwise I like it.

I've posted this kind of idea a couple of times but with Techno Wizardry; a "box" or some sort of container with Carpet of Adhesion and Telekinesis built into it. The CoA makes one side sticky and the TK spell is built into a remote control, like a model aeroplane.
You could put either a laser (and a small hole to shoot through) or explosives inside.

If the lasers rotated then it could be used to make quick holes.

That's an interesting concept, but where could it be used?
I think it would make a great anti-personel device but having several of them would be hard.
What happens if it's attached on a PA and doesn't drill thru all the armour to either kill the pilot or diable a vital component? The PA escapes, pries it off and recharges it, one lost weapon.
I would use this as a door key myself

I did this once with a modifed Wilk's Laser Wand.
Not as high damage, but very cheap and easy to do.

Excellent Idea! A re-useable landmine! Maybe give it an Anti-Tamper device and require a digital access code or it will self-destruct doing 2d6 to everyone in a 20ft radius! This would be cool for playercharacters with telemechanics, allow them a chance to try and steal some of these reuseable landmines from the enemy, that would be a good way to get the devices *into* your players hands with a little backstory and mini-quest to boot.
I would say this though, most of the landmines you'll see in rifts do 4d6x10... So you might wanna increase the dmg from 6d6 to maybe 1d6x10.... Then again, since you can literally place the mine on a specific part of a robot (including a weapon system I'm assuming) that would make it the only *targeted* landmine ever!
(yes there are combat drones which effectivly are landmines, but they're different and sound a hell of a lot more complicated/expensive with the advanced computers needed to run the AI software ect. and all the parts and means of locomotion blahblahblah, its not the same thing, those automated landmines that are self-seeking are just blatently way more complicated and expensive)
Now with that anti-tamper device this thing becomes a really ideal weapon for sabotage use.
Thanks

I figured the cost as follows:
L-20 Pulse Laser Rifle is 25,000 with range(1600') and better payload
so... I just based it from that. Thanks for the replies. I'll incorporate the anti-tamper system and bring up the cost to 20,000 CR (It still has less payload and no range)
Yes, I intended it to be used as both sabotage and continuous "called-shot" effect weapon. The M.A.L.S. represents Northern Gun's being introduced to NGR Maysies by adventurers (It's only been several years since WB 5:Triax & the NGR came out and the timeline has advanced enough that it seems reasonable that N.American manufacturers would finally have gotten their hands on the Triax tech by now).

if you need a starting off point for such a weapon.......

its from a guy's robotech webbook, but rather cool.
