ok, so say you had a holy sword with an iq of 13 with a telepathic link to you which of course does double damage to anything evil. you are going against a creature that you believe to be evil. would the sword know that it was not evil and would it inform you of this?
but...

but if it does double damage to anything evil, wouldnt it know that something wasnt evil? i mean, with an iq of 13, and a telepathic link to its owner. you would think it would inform its holder through the link.

supernatural evil exists outside our perception.
If something is truly "evil", then it doesn't matter whether we know it or not. The sword reacts to it accordingly regardless.

I'd say no, but it's up to the GM.
Certainly the sword (unless it also has the psychic power or spell "detect evil" couldn't tell until after you had hit it at least once.
Maybe give the sword an IQ check (13% chance, in this case) to figure things out each time it struck (maybe a cumulative +1-5% bonus each time).

True Holy Weapons aren't intelligent, but the weapon in question here might be a Lightbringer Rune Weapon, which can be considered a holy Rune Weapon, but not a Holy Weapon

..I disagree. The sword, intelligent or not, does not do double damage to evil, but rather the evil
takes double damage from good swords. Like a vampire reacting to holy water, the good weapon would be offensive to something of evil nature, and it would react to the sword as though allergic.

okay, but that still means that the supernatural evil in question would be evil regardless of what we or the sword thinks. The vampires takes damage from holy water because it's a vampire and those are the rules for vampires. The vampire doesn't have to
know it's a vampire.
If i attack a shapeshifted Dar'ota with a holy weapon, it's going to take double damage even though I thought it was a sexy girl.

All supernatural evil radiates its' presence to anything psychic anyway, so I would assume that as the sword has telepathy it would sense it as an evil presence.
