I'm starting my Chaos Earth campaign in two weeks with a couple of one-shots to introduce the setting. I think we're starting with a group of Roscoes responding to a call in the first days of the apocalypse, then maybe doing an "escape from Dallas" scenerio as it is overrun, then maybe a session as power armor pilots.
For all of this, I think that Creatures of Chaos (or Rifts Conversion Book 1 or other Rifts supplement) is really necessary. I mean, you need bad guys to fight against, right?
For command structures and such, I would refer you to Rifts Sourcebook 1, which had such info for the CS. It would be more or less applicable.
As for typos and such, I don't know what to say. Make a judgement and run with it. It's tough to deal with, but it happens.
