Sourcebook One has parts of it opening up to CS colonization, but would they try to contain it instead or just build secret military facilities out there?
And does anyone know where in Illinois the CS ends and the Magic Zone begins or is the CS pushing slowly southwards?
They'd probably have the place colonized by undesirable elements such as DBs, criminals, and mutants.
They'd turn it into a much larger version of the Burbs; a place relatively tame, but able to be bulldozed or bombed if necessary.

Not sure that is a good assumption. Tolkeen was over confident and that is why they supposedly lost to the CS, which I personally don't see having happened. FoM is secret, gotta find them first. They aren't going to look for a fight, in fact just the opposite, they will avoid it if possible. That will keep them low on the CS priority list.
Any real magic based kingdom should be able to put together a "hit" squad that could take out the CS leadership. Why Tolkeen didn't do this makes me wonder, I don't think FoM would make the same mistake.

Putting togeather such a squad, and having that squad successfully compleate thier mission is two totally seperate things. With the CS having psi-stalkers, nega-psycics, dog-boys, psi-nulifiers...etc. Thier security force would make America's Secret Service look like a bunch of first graders by comparison. And these are things we know about, there's bound to be stuff that hasn't been written yet to deter such a thing.

The place is too dangerous to colonize, and even more dangerous to allow d-bees and other critters in the area. To be safe, they'd have to slash and burn the whole area to ash. Just miles and miles of smoldering ash where there is no place to hide, where anything that moves is easily spotted and killed on sight. Just make it into one giant kill zone.

They would probably nuke it then invade it. At the very least satuarate it with missles, artillery and other similiar weapons. If I remeber correctly anyone living in the magic zone d-bee or not is considered an enemy.

Like what? I'm interested if you mean a tech device or special training or something. I think a few terrorist suicide mages could do it with teleport and explosives quite easily. The FoM must have plenty of unstable mages whose family/wife/kids have been killed by the CS. If you look at the world today there is almost no shortage of people willing to give their life up for (what they see as) a good cause, and as we have seen it's almost impossible to stop these kind of people once they have made up their minds. The only way to stop this kind of attack is for the leadership to never show their faces in public, which is possible but difficult.
The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".
The Federation of Magic would take a look at the War on Tolkeen, see where tolkeen failed, and then kick the CS in the balls. It has already happened once and if you think that the nutjob in charge, Alistair Dunscon is just going to sit there and let his sworn enemy come and take his home, you have got another thing coming. Sure, tolkeen summoned the Daemonix, but Dunscon would just open gateways to hell. He doesn't care what he releases as long as the CS is destroyed. I seriously think that if the CS stirs up that hornets nest, they will have a hard time surviving any assault on the FOM

I'm pretty sure that if the entire Magic Zone was facing the recieving end of the Coalitions beatdown stick that they would unite and kick little deadboy butt.
