I have a question for you...

Can anyone supply me with the value for gold by the pound in the major countries of Palladium? I have a character with a couple of 5 pound ingots, and I would like to know how much he might eventually sell them for.

As for the other gent...if you could kindly provide page number... I've gone through the book a couple of times and didn't find it.

I also know that the figure is out there, since I've seen it posted somewhere before.

Devil's advocate here.. As a fellow GM< I gotta say, that would be committing a cardinal sin. You said 5, and, even if you didnt realize how valuable, you need to roll with 5.

However, theft, ripoffs, conartists, etc, are all highly accepted forms of reducing the amount. Theres also the fact that, most places dont want to trade in ingots, nuggets, or anything other than coins. So, he'll have to go to a moneychanger. Can we say "20% changeover fee?". And then, how good is the characters math skill? "Wow... I have 1..2...10! 10 Gold coins for all them big rocks!" Also, does the char have recognize precious metals/stones (AKA: Gemology)? If not, sorry, thats FOOLS GOLD!

Well, the other option is 2 bars of gold, 3 bars of somethign that looks like gold.

Hmmm...nah, even with the "inheritance" angle, it's be kinda hard to explain why she has 62,500gps worth of 24 karat gold in addition to the other things she carries/carried (she's 1st level).

BUT, we're going into backstory items that only myself and the GM need to know, and at least one of our group (other than BM & myself) frequents the boards.

Have you considered the effect of the currency table in the LOB?

For simplicity sake assume that the ammounts listed are for the middle tier on the currency table. That seems most reasonable sense the first area of the world to be fleshed out was Timro.

So those ignots may be worth more in other areas and less in others.

As well they should be. There's no reason, other than GM convenience, for commodities to all have the same value the world over. The purchasing power of those gold bars could (and should) vary widely.

In regards to the karat issue, it should be noted that all PF coins are a mixture of precious metals, primarily silver & gold, not pure silver, gold, etc.
