I see it not as the source of all Eyes of Eylor, but the first place bio-wizards encountered them. They took a sample, liked what they sore and realised the potential so started cloning them.
I imagine a bio-wizards lab filled with huge vats of eyes of different sizes.
The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".

I read somewhere that Eylor is alive (similar to Wormwood). I'll have to check up on that...
