Just wondering what rifts book claymores are in? Also if a person set off a claymore what kind of damage would he/she sustain as in organs wise?

A claymore mine is basically 800 small steel marbles packed around a pound and a quarter of C4. I have "set one off" and am obviously still here, so not sure exactly what you mean. If the person is 50' behind the mine, they take no damage. If the person is in a 60 degree arc in front of the mine, they take full damage.

It is an SDC weapon, so it is not too practical in Rifts. For the amount of noise, etc. you might as well use an MDC fragmentary grenade and get a bigger punch. I would say it does 50-200 SDC if you are directly in front of it, less if to the side. This is just a swag though.

Check out Japan, I'm sure they got some anti-personel mines in there

If I remember correctly did not the old Robotech RDF manual have stats on two types of claymores?Or was it anti-mecha mines? I think there was two types. Mind you I can be wrong it's been ages since I last looked at the Robotech books.

thanks for the all the quick answers. I was wondering because I am in a campaign where myself and others are going to ambush some other PCs who are playing vampires with homemade claymore mines.(i got the idea from swordfish) Its funny someone mentioned the silver ball bearings because that is why we are planning to do this.
So an actual claymore could take off a persons legs huh? Could it take off the whole lower body? Also how could this possibly differ from doing this to a vampire?

Well I'm just plain mean to my PC's, all the explosives that the NPC's use are just modified fusion blocks or jury rigged mini missiles, but i usuall allow 1mdc to equal 1sdc to the person inside the armour as impact damage, and as i am such a nice guy, they can roll with impact to reduce by half, and for every 10 points you get a free 1d6 feet flying lesson :D
