T-11 Body Armour

Unread post by Rimmer »

Anybody else think that the Triax T-11 enhanced body armour has penalties for prowl etc that are way to low ?
I let my wife play rifts once....................she shot me in the back of the head with a naruni plasma pistol, gaffa taped a type 4 fusion block to my nether regions, and kicked my ass off the apc travelling at 100 MPH

gimme a break, my pc is a playa, not me.

Not really. Compare it to the other exoskeleton type body armor used by the CS, Republic of Japan, and NEMA Roscoe. It is fairly light weight, and lightly armored so the prowl penalty is not outrageous.

The T-11 is the raddest suit of armor of infantry armor in Rifts.

Closely followed by the Naruni camoflague and Duelist Articulated

I don't know about that. I think the Gladius is the coolest, you get to be a Boba Fett look-alike. The Mandalorian...I mean the Gladius may not have lot of MDC and be battery powered but still looks cool

If I'm in the mood for massive destruction give me the Bear Exo-skeleton From Warlords, a servo rig and a Heavy Rocket Rifle Machinegun From SA1.

What? 180 MDC isn't enough for you, for a suit of powered body armor? You've been without Urban Warrior for too long.

Well technically it's an Exo-Skeleton, but everyone was talking about the bigger badder PAs that have much more MDC. I think they changed the MDC for this in GMG, can't remember. I prefer to stick to the lower end tech, and anything above is Munch. Most of the stuff on Kitsune's site is munchkin to me, but reasonable to everyone else.

..Crusader Exo? what are you talking about? Crusader is a standard body armor, not an Exo...

Septicrazor wrote:What I like about the T-11 and most of the other more conventional exo-skeletons is that they give bonuses straight to your stats, where the Gladius just has a PS 20, its cool for NPC's or non-combat types but kind of pointless to most combat types that already have PS's near 20 or above.

..But that's Robotic Strength. Page 26, GMG:

Robots with a P.S. of 18+ can lift and carry 25 times their P.S. attribute.

..It goes on to list a Robotic damage chart; the Gladius with a robotic PS of 20 can do 2D6 SDC on a restrained punch (+PS damage bonus), 1D6 MD on a full strength punch or kick, and 2d6 MD on a power punch or leap kick(=2APM).

..Those Exo's that give a PS bonus just enhance your normal PS, so you don't really get Robotic strength out of them. This is also why the Gladius needs a superiour power system, it's a low end PA with that strength.

I had this situation come up actually and I went for option A. The SN Str applied. Though I was keeping note of how the armour was being used. Too much stentuous action and I was tempted to rule that the armour began to break as it was subjected to forces higher than it's design spec.

[EDIT] The only reason the character used the armour was because that was all that was lying around, not to get some Str bonus.

BEATLEGUESE! BEATLEGUESE! BEATLEGUESE! <waits for the annoying spirit to disappear....

.....

..curses!

..Well, reading over the finer details agian I see that you are right. Thanks for ruining the Gladius for me!

..I don't see it in the Game Master Guide... It should have had an update to rectify this stupidity... With the PS bonus from either of the other Exoskeletons the Gladius becomes a waste of money. The MDC is high, the PS is high, they have a speed bonus, and the Gladius just sits out there like a retarded sore thumb...

..Well, I'd say a GM would do better to not leave Exoskeletons lying around. And a character with SN strength would do better to not waste money on an exo when it won't help them. Put on some heavy high MDC armor and go on with your life...
