You need an all of the above option, I had to go with other.

They are all great. I have played all these characters, that is what is so cool about rifts, every "type" has a character that will interest you. I like juicers, borgs, wizards, psychics, "monsters"... I like playing all of them. In AD&D, I always played a mage and I still have a place for wizards, but with Rifts, the other classes are versatile enough, that you can have an interesting character without magic.

Whatever I play, I like it to be something vulnerable and human (in character, not necessarily in race). I've never played a lot of psychics... mostly mundane humans or mages.

Master Gypsy healer from Mystic Russia, I add a stipulation in the background that keeps me from using any offensive psi. He makes a great binding force in a splintered group and saves their butts all the time.

my favorites are characters who sample from each category like a giant salad bar. I like characters who get a little bit of psionics, a little bit of magic, some decent skills thrown in, etc. MDC skin and supernatural strength are definitely a bonus, but not necessary.
I also like Apoks and Gunslingers. They get some great abilities and powers, even though their skill selection is crap.

I usually like to play a normal man of arms and then roll on the random psionics table on pg 12 RMB. I use psionics in my characters more as a backup to their skills. Object read or empathy are my favorite psionics with telekinetic leap a close 3rd.

I'm not a big fan of magic, though psionics can be handy in a pinch. Still, I like to win a fight with my character knowing he did it by himself and only his brain, armor, and trusty rifle got him through it...no mystic mumbo jumbo need apply. Plus, I still maintain a great distrust of magic....if it can't be waxed by an artillery barrage....send 2 more barrages, sit down, and smoke em' if you got em'.

Depends on the situation(s) in the campaign.

I have (PFRPG) right now, a Human Martial Arts Master (ala the Rifter, since the GM said he'd like to see something like that played), and a Human Nobleman/Priest of Light.

Prior to that, I had a Gnome Diabolist/Thief and the Priest.

Prior to that, I had a 1st level Chiang-Ku that was masquerading as a roaming healer - the rest of the party being 4th to 5th level. (The Gnome was introduced a short time later when it became obvious we needed someone with skills in the "gentler arts," as we had two mages, and a tank at that point.)

Other than that, (RIFTS), I love Wilderness Scouts, Headhunters, 'Walkers, I'm running an Operator in an online PbP game, Dragons, Undead Slayers, Prometheans, etc...
