Technowizardry and it's Origins...
...now I'm sure this has been asked before...
But why...and please correct me if I'm wrong...why does it say in the Main book and in various other places that Technoqizardry was invented by humans on Earth, when it seems to exist almost everywhere in the galaxy and is older than humanity on Earth?

TechnoWizardry is an "Oop Art". Don't laugh, but this is actually a technical name for some amazing advances in science that have been lost, and then rediscovered by someone else many centurys later.
Take for example the fact the ancient egyptians had actual battery's when they were still whipping the pyramids into shape. Or that arceologists found a small wooden toy of a bird with outstretched wings, that when tossed in the air proved to be aerodynamic. It's wings were shaped much like the Wright brothers famous plane. Or two stage gears that were found on a sunken ship that dates 300 years or so older than when that type of gearing was invented. The list goes on and on. Techno Wizardry is stated as being discovered/invented in the city of Lazlo, yet is obviously practiced throughout the Megaverse long before the Rifts happened on Earth. That just means that the art/science of TW was independently created by someone on this planet without help from anyone else.

So basically in other words...until the Megaverse expanded to include the three galaxies, it was intended to be a human invention, but now we have to come up with a good reason that it existed prior to being invented by humans on Earth?

Why bother? Does anyone really care who invented the wheel first? An invention that obviously spread throughout the world in a short ammount of time, when world travle was non-existant. No offense but your post begs the question: "Who cares?"

I think that description was supposed to be written by Erin Tarn, who knew nothing about the three galaxies etc. So she just assumed that Lazlo was where it was invented.
{well obviously KS originally thought that TW was invented in Lazlo and then it all changed later but this explanation does make good sense.}

The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".

Or what she was told. With the sopposed wonders of TW that exist in Lazlo it wouldn't be too hard to convince someone that it was invented there. Good idea zOB!!

Parallel thinking. People on disparate worlds just happened to come up with the same ideas and develop the same form of magic independently of each other. Simple as that.

A perfect example of that thinking would be the plethora of pyrimids throughout the world. All created independantly of each other, and all around the same time of history.
That is unless you subscribe to the "aliens created them" theory.

It was Atlantians.

Or you believe that they weren't actually created completely independent from each other.
There is some evidence that the ancient egyptians had some trade with the Americas at one point.
The concept of pyramids may have been borrowed.

Erin Tarn's incomplete knowledge is an easy explanation to a lot of things. Rahu-men NGR generals, Japan being unpopulated take your pick.

I'll have to look it up...
But I remember reading that Technowizardry was exclusive to Rifts Earth...that it was invented by humans.
And it was backed up by Splynncryth's surprise that Humans could invent such a magic...because the invention of magic was so...unique and infrequent that any such invention is notable...
Maybe I'm wrong...but I'll have ot look it up and quote it...
