[New Martial Art] Taegeuk Shon Kwon Bop
Taegeuk Shon Kwon Bop (Grand Ultimate Fan Boxing)
Entrance Requirements: None.
Skill Cost: 12 Years (Primary), 6 Years (Secondary).
Fung Ti Wa was a bureaucrat in service to the Ming Dynasty. When it fell, he fled with a few loyal servants, and his personal fortune. Escaping to Korea, Ti Wa set about recruiting and training guerilla fighters in a quick and easy version of Chi Hsuan Men to combat the invading Manchu. Eventually the Manchu solidified their control of China and became the Ching Dynasty. Realizing he could never bring back the Ming Dynasty, Ti Wa soon gave up. At this point word of the foreigner teaching a new martial art had spread through the Korean martial art community. Challengers and hopeful students soon came knocking on his door. Fung Ti Wa only took a few disciples. Upon his death his top student, Paek Eui-kon, inherited the system. Paek Eui-kon continued to teach the system as he had been taught. Jung Jae-yup, the next inheritor of the system, began combining it with techniques from native Korean styles. This eventually became the system as it exists today.
A student of this style, when fighting, will start with open hand attacks. The fan will be tucked into their belt. They will rely mainly on quick, damaging, hand attacks. If the fight starts to turn against them, the fan will be brought into play.
This style is fairly rare. Schools can only be found in Korea.
Costume: A Dobok with a “V” neck top, and a white belt. The top has a color trim along the V-neck. The color of the trim denotes the rank of the student.
Stance: The body is side-on to the opponent, with the strong side forward. Feet are a foot apart, the front foot pointed at the opponent and the back foot perpendicular to the front. The front arm is held out, hand held open at shoulder height, with the elbow down. The rear hand is at the waist in a fist.

ah, first of all, forgive me for being so condencenging. remind me not to post 2 minutes after waking up. I apologise.
now, for a better mechanic. . .try waving it around tauntingly, make it an MA check, sort of like the Warrior Spirit kata.
they character rolls their MA for Taunt rather than intimidate check. if they suceed the opponent is goaded into attacking it.
if the characters MA isn't normally extrodanary give them an MA of 18 or so for the purpose of this kata.

or go chi techniques...
as Zanshin detects where the attacker is intending,
this technique might make the fan a "magnet" of agressive chi...
by channeling their own chi into the fan, they confuse the enemy's primative mind into thinking the fan is an exposed part of themselves...
and thus your save vs psionics (tho i'd make it something else, save vs magic perhaps, since it'd be a sinple chi spell..)

meh... minor detail...
just amp it up a bit...
those who can see chi, get a resistance,
those who can't have to save or their aggressive focus is shifted...
you can make chi attacks against those without chi skills...
this just takes the idea a step further, allowing you to manipulate their chi (and conveniently their mind)
like Chi Invisibility does...
just with a different focus...

Fold it up and throw it like a dart.Originally posted by Tyciol.
I like it, though I don't think a fan would have a bonus to throw.
Nope.Originally posted by Tyciol.

awsome. like warrior spirt it should give characters with normal MA an MA of 18 or 20 for using this kata, otherwise it's worthless if you roll bad on character creation.
other than that, looks good

Let's try this again.
Special Kata: Decoy
Action: By presenting the open fan as a target, the character goads the opponent into attempting to hit it. But, at the last second the character folds the fan out of the way and the opponent is thrown off balance.
Effect: In combat, the character must use an attack and present the fan. The opponent must roll higher than the Mental Affinity of the character on a D20 or use their next attack to strike the fan. The character then gets an Automatic Dodge, with a +2 bonus, against this attack. If the Automatic Dodge is successful the character has a +2 to Strike bonus for their next attack of the Melee Round. This attack will be the first attack of the Melee Round.

which character would get the dodge bonus and which gets the strike bonus?
The attacker with the girly fan? or the defender?

The defender (aka "the character") has the fan. That is the only person who gets any sort of bonus.
