how do you reduce a power gamer to tears when he is rp'ing an uber munchkin player from ****?

that has been done, but that is not the answer in this case.
this is a very, very, very effective way to deal with such characters.... accidently/randomly (big clue) to a character.
been done many times in comics/movies etc etc, not exactly like i am thinking, but i am sure there are many ways to get the end result......
there may be many correct answers, but i am looking for this specific answer?

If you're the GM why did you let him make a munchkin to begin with?

Do you need help dealing with an out of control player, or is this a quiz where you already know the answer?
If it's the former, we'll help, but need more information.
If it's the latter, (Shrugs)

Have him find an item that he really wants. Then tell him the item is cursed and that his PS drops by 10 points (or whatever makes you happy).

Illithid13 wrote:I came up with one... this may be borderline in bending the rules, but, hey if you are GM you are god of the world.
ok, Sea titan captured at age 8, who is a major psionic and was designated as a T-man, then after a while (7th level), his master/boss decides to juice him (bio-wizard style) and then, he was given an absure life node...
Doing all of this would give him somewhere around a natural 1000 MDC plus the MDC from the symbiotes with INSAIN stats and he'd still only die of natural causes at the ripe age of 60,000 years of age...
tell him that the character got captured, and was thrown into a ring with this guy to fight it out, and all he has to fight with is an MDC tooth pick. Oh, yeah. the ring is in a "Special demension" and none of his normal powers work there, but all of the bad guy's do.
BTW, I'd never dream of asking to play something like that.
Actually, just about all of this would cancel everything else...

Play a really RP-intensive game. No combat at all. Basically, push the PCs into a Sean Penn movie. Force them all to act by introducing situations where violence can't be an answer, skills won't help much, and they pretty much have to get by on actual strength of character (for example, they need something--a generic important item--from an eccentric millionare, or whatever). Make is a very dramatic, character-development oriented game for a little while. Or introduce potential love interests. So on and so forth.
If that doesn't work, just have a Vagabond steal his equipment while he's sleeping and sell it, then hop into a Rift and vanish forever.

If it's really that uber-powerfull, then just have peaple start worshipping him/her. Praying to the character. Asking for all kinds of favors, blessings, help, etc. Then when it comes out that he/she/it isn't a god, the mob attacks and rips the character to peices. Even if they could only do 1 point of damage each, say that there are 1000 of them. Too many to ward off, and too many to teleport away from. Sorry, but the god is dead, long live the god.

there's also the Anvil Rain...

thanks for all your responses. i was actually looking for a specific answer. which worked in our scenarios. i think it went by the book.
exaggerrating here. but his character, was munchkin in relation to the first 6 books ( CWC/SA1 just came out0
to put in context how powerful this character became:
Splyncrytth took a vacation to another dimension, when this character visited Atlantis..........
The CS deployED their entire Northern defence forces & their reserves to escort player team around Chi-town anytime they went within the 100mile exclusion zone, they set up to stop PC group flattening bits of Chi-town every time they got into a scrap in the burbs.............
Satan offered his first born if the character let Satan be his ******
In one of the scenarios, this character had to roll on the insanity tables in Main book, & he rolled Multiple Personalties. & the player rp'ing this character said "not to bad" & rolled "Normal" personality, as his multiple personality,
& the player rejoiced!!!!!!!, thinking he got off easy.......
a few scenarios later, the uber munchkin character turned personality in the middle of a fight & the rest they say is history to be talked about by our rp'ing gaming group whenever we get together & talk about the good old days.............

Mike SSN-723 wrote:what if you make him fight himself, what i mean is make a copy of his character sheet and tell him that this is his evil/good self from another dimension, kinda like that movie "the one"
in this particular campaign of this character i am thinking of, your suggestion actually happened. The GM used the "id Self" spell (can't remember what it is called, but it is temporal spell from England book)
The character had a few fights with this mysterious Palladin type, his opposite. this mysterious bloke kept on doing heroic deeds before he did, rescue village before player group got there, save the damsel in distress, rescue clerics from bandit attk, player got no kudos/glory or rewards
mysterious palladin just got in the players way, whenever player tried to do things his way, keeping half the rescued treasure, asking for recompense from both parties, i'll leave this with you, if you pay more than NPC A. his id self, appeared & interfered. lIke telling NPC A what the munchkin player had planned. essentially annoyed the **** out of the munchkin & the player group
eventually player got so annoyed with this mysterious bloke's interference, he called him to a 1-on-1 fight.
Players logic being "GM" will never kill him, or put an oppenent against him, that he didn't have a chance of winning against!
but munchkin player did win, but only when the other group players helped him, after he had his **** right royally kicked.
It seemed that the GM knew his character better than he did ( isn't that always the case!). The Id self was a few lvls higher than the munchkin palyer character

in the scenarios, when his character turned into his Multiple personality "NORMAL", & there wasn't an obvious way for him to turn back to Main Personality.
the munchkin player decided to change character, this pretty much brought those early campaigns to an end for our rp group.
this wasn't something the GM had planned, it was actually dice rolls, none of us actually realized what turning into "NORMAL" personality meant. it was only when in middle of fight, this uber character turned into NORMAL persoanlity, did any of us acyually grasp what had happened & what it meanty,
basically there was nothing any of us players could think of in the middle of that scenario to get his Main personality back
it is really a very simple, & irritating thing to happen. the player was disgusted to say the least. this character was larger than life, gods begged him for help, usaully it is us players that try to kiss gods behind, hoping GM will let the god NPC make us players more powerful or help us.
check out Multiple Personality "NORMAL" in Main book. it is very, very annoying, & a unbelievable simple means of stopping a munchkin player in his/her tracks

Ok lets see here.
Best way, humiliate him, not with something stronger but with something weaker... or something that he has to use his head to beat.
- Mind Melter: Use evil eye to paralyze him, then tickle his toes till he dies
- Hoarde of Xiticix: Might not be THAT powerful, but you try fighting off a swarm of like 80 - 120 of those suckers
- Random Enemy I came up with:
Stats: Equal to that of it's opponent
HF: 15
The creature is actually only a reflection of the character. With every strike the character does the creature will do a simultanious strike doing the same amount of damage. The creature will deliberately try and taunt the character to attack it, but will not attack otherwise. (Had a player almost down to nothing left when he realized what was going on and stopped fighting the beast)
- A couple vampires (Most uber characters are so confident they don't carry anything along the lines of crosses or stakes)
- Have him catch a disease (Dinosaur swamp is great for that)
- Puzzles (use his head)
- Exploit his weaknesses, he may be tough, but everything's got a weakness
- Wreak havoc with magic. Magic can mess up even the strongest of characters.

Well, dude, if you're looking for a spedific way to shame a Munchkin or Power Gamer (there is a difference between the two), there are a few easy ways to do it depending on just how the character was put together.
A) If the character is a Natural MDC type critter like a Hatchling Dragon or Gargoyle Lord or the like, then I have three words for you, ES-20 Electro-stun Spear! I couple of years ago I would have said Neural Mace, but the powers that be decided to nerf the hell out of them, but the ES-20 is technically a different beast. Found on page 50. of the Lone Star book, (not in the RGMG), the Stun Spear was made to handle and put down the most dangerous creatures, even those with supernatural endurance. On a connecting hit, even if the target makes a successful save roll (15 or higher), it still looses an attack and the initiative. If it doesn't save, it's a -8 to strike, parry, and dodge, and HALF it's melee attacks are now gone for the duration. This is enough to keep the victim off balance while more stikes are inflicted. After the third hit, save or no, in addition to haveing to save again, the supernatural defender faces a 01-20% chace of be KOed for the next 2D4 melee Rounds, (cumulative with additional hits). Once unconscious, your munchkin is yours to do with as you please and is completely at your mercy. To make this attack even more effeicve you may want to have the attacker have Paired Weapons, be of a high level, and whack away without mercy, twice per melee attack and cutting in half the time needed to take the munchkin out of commission, (though since this is a "spear" and not a mace this could be a bit of a boo-boo given that by definition spears are traditionally two-handed weapons, though not alwasy).
B) If your munchkin is a power armor/bot sort of guy and would be immune to the Stun Spear, (casters with the Invincible Armor spell would be immune as well), then the guy can not be confronted in normal combat. Instead, the best way to shame him into submission is to get him when he is vulnerable. All armor and vehciles must be gotten out of now and then. Even Glitter Boy pilots get out and streatch their legs one every two weeks. Even if the time to jump him is when the war machine goes in to be repaired in town. The point is he is vulnerable! When the character is at his weakest, that's when bad things happen. It could be an argument that gets out of control with an unassuming NPC, or a brutal mugging, or a sniper hidden in the trees just waiting for him to get out and empty his bladder. The point is, these guys essentially ARE their gear. Hit when the gear isn't on and they're just another "squishie".
C) If your munchkin is Captain MDC, 24/7, and unsuseptable to the other two means of getting them, then there is still one simple way to take them down a peg; MISSILES! I don't care how badass you think you are. A volley of 10 plasma mini-missiles is just going to ruin your day. And if that's not enough, then there are always Medium Range Missiles. The common-as-dirt UAR-1 Enforcer can fire off a volley of FIVE of them of the Plasma or Multi-warhead variety doing 4D6x50 to 5D6x50 MD Range, (FYI that'll take off a good 700 to 875 MD in a single hit!!!) And just in case he trys to shoot them down, remember, Multi-warhead MRM's are "Smart" and thus get to 1) dodge all counter attacks, and 2) get two attacks per melee till either destroyed or they make a successful hit.
Personally when I GM I let my players know one thing right off the bat. They can play ANY character they want within reason, but the badder they are, the more fire and danger they'll attract in every fight.

my usual threat is "you stub your toe on a stone. take 10,000 md!". but really, if the p.c. has a weapon that's all too powerful sand see's too much use, i'd set up a situation where the weapon is lost, loses power, gets destroyed, etc. if the character himself is all too powerful, i'd let a god/ess come in and strip him of most if not all his power, and return it in meager portions.
