Gene Pools and Librarians

I'm a bit confused about the gene pools and librarians. I know that Saints carry the immature brain pools, but i'm wondering.. in order to have a brain pool and a librarian it requires two mature symbiotes right? One to mature into a brain pool, and one to mature into a librarian right?

Gene and Brain-pools are the symbiotes carried by the Saint that mature into Engineers and Librarians respectively according to p15-16.

Brain-pool matures to Librarian;Gene-pool matures to Engineer. To have both, yes you need 2 mature symbiotes.

Granted, Ive vastly over simplified the evolution of Engineers.

One of the conditions for Pools is indeed evisceration of a human shortly after maturity. Saints carry the immature versions of both Engineers and Librarians though, the symbiote function is identical it seems.
