Coalition States- The CS knows what they are doing it's all planned. The Proseks know that Lazlo's ideals are possible but they are difficult to attain and require a lot of work and allow the masses freedom. The CS want power NOW at any cost. Emperor Prosek may love his child (I think it's actually the mailman's though) but I'm sure if it came down to conquoring the planet he'd sacrifice him as well as Chi-town for the "greater" good.

Dunscon's Federation of Magic- acting purely on revenge and deranged delusions that it was at the hands of the three that his father died. Then again it could just be because some attractive deamon chick told him that if he wants to be her lover he's gotta get with her lord. That's right it's all becouse of Lucifer's Spice.

Tolkeen- Never really evil just desperate

Archie-3- It's a computer it's doing as it was programed to. Even an A.I. doesn't actually thing it just gets more choices and some of those can get messed up or miscalculated.

Free Quebec- OK there almost as bad as the CS. Then again do they actually know as much as the CS or do they just hate out of fear of the unknown and those that are naturally better than them? Suprised they allow Juicers and Borgs since they are better than most of the rest of the populace.

Lazlo- Hmm one of the last Bastions of the American spirit, beleifs and dreams of Freedom and Equality...where'd capitalism and materialism go to? Yup definately the Pepsi One of evil no wait that's Scott, Lazlo would be the Diet Pepsi of evil.

Dweomer- Not that different from Lazlo though one must worry about there leaders. The only thing I know that can physically split it's essence are evil critters like AI's...so how many tentacles does the Three's real form have, one for each limb they posses individually?

Xiticix- There bugs, just like the the Tyranids you hate them because they don't hate. They live, they expand, they consume there is no pitty there is no tollerance there is no hate. They are a force of nature more than an invading species they just are.

Even the ones from their original BtS would have been better (I don't know if they just did a copy and paste to the new one or not) . Granted I'd probably be the first to be hollerin (can't beleive I just typed that) that they're a conglomeration of existing vampires, however I'd also respect them more and when someone said your going to Mexico I'd actually beg not to. With the current ones there are so many ways that a TW firetruck is munchkin compared to them.

EVERYTHING should be considered in moderation. I'd choose the coalition over any number of nasty states in existence on Rifts earth....were it to come down to that.
Atlantis, Phoenix Empire, Demonlands of China, Vampire Kingdoms, Soul Harvest, the Gargoyle Kingdoms, Mindwerks, the Archon or Dunscon's Federation of Magic (and probably one or two I've missed). The CS is preferable to them all. The CS can, given time, change and will change, because of the basic nature of humanity, I believe. One day, there will be a shout of Revolution in the CS.....until then, even as it stands, it's preferrable to the above.
If we could just get the CS to focus on the real enemies....whom they never seem to actually fight....(except the xiticix).

Sure, the FoM may have a leader that needs to kill stay stay alive, but everyone in the FoM does not. The Vampire Kingdoms are easily the most evil, they infect and spread.

Sure, the NET EFFECTS of Vampire Infestation is more of the same, but the vast majority of Rifts Vampire are eventually "forced" to be evil by dint of the hunger within them; they can't do like Blade and ignore the Hunger, or even drink the blood of non-sentient Creatures like Anne Rice Vampires can.

I'd have to say that it's a hands down tie with BOTH Alistair Dunscon AND Joseph Prosek:

Both of them WILLINGLY and with FULL KNOWLLEDGE practice the most heinous Evils, sending thousands of people both combatant and non-combatant alike to their deaths, both of them constantly fan the flames of hatred, BOTH of them do more or less EXACTLY what they accuse the other guy of doing...and BOTH would gladly see the Continent soaked in blood and sacrifice any number of their own to achieve their goals......... which, when one looks at it, are essentially one and the same.......

exactly my point! Is something more evil because it is borne/created that way or because it chooses to be that way. I think if one has a choice and it chooses evil that, that is worse than a VI. I think I made a flub though it's supposed to be which kingdom is more evil and I was basing the entire thing off their leaders and effectiveness. Vamp. I had this really long, thought-out opinion piece that I did for the "Do You Support the Coalition" thread, but I didn't get the kind of response I was hoping for.

So I'll repost it here:

On the Question of "Do I support the Coalition?”
Yes, they know the situation out there is bad, and humanity's chips are down. They are making a stand, and strangely they don't find it necessary to crawl into bed with something that just slithered out of a rift.

On the Question of "Is the Coalition evil":
Yes, as a matter of fact they are. Without recapping the entire thread, they do some pretty crappy things. If you were in same place, you would too.

But consider this:
The Coalition is perhaps one of the best RPG examples I can think of a "necessary evil". All the liberal, pot-smoking, hand-holding, kumbaya-singing, brotherhood and friendship in the world isn’t going to mean jack when the wolves are at your door.

Fact of the matter is in Rifts, under a worst case scenario if somehow all the Fennodi, Elves, Dwarfs, Naruni were suddenly killed off in single stroke, there would still be, far across the Megaverse more of those races. Rifts Earth is not their homeworld. You can't say the same thing about Rifts Earth Humans. (Yes, yes I know there are humans in many, many other dimensions, but strictly speaking they would be considered D-Bee's too on Rifts Earth).

Also, the CS is evil no doubt about that, and are the one of the 'bad guys', but you know what? Communist Russia, Nazi Germany, and Imperial Japan where at one time or another were the evil, bad guys. They got over it. Eventually, the CS will too. They do what they do now, because they believe they must, so in a future, safer world, their sons and daughters won't have to.

A D-Bee villager looking at a Coalition soldier feels fear, but it is a known tangible fear. The worst that the soldier can do is in plain sight, in the armor he wears, and in the rifle he carries. It is not hidden, and it can be overcome. A Coalition soldier (without Dog Pack support) looking at a ‘harmless’ D-Bee woman or child feels fear too. Fear of the unknown. Is this really what it appears? Is she a mage? A psychic? Is this child really a child? Or is it a dragon or a familiar, or a demon metamorphosized into human form? They appear unarmed, but are they really? Is she mind-controlling me? Is what I’m seeing an illusion or the truth? After watching a couple of your mates getting torn to ribbons by ‘harmless, unarmed’ D-Bee women and children, you would very rapidly adopt a shoot first, and don’t bother asking questions policy too. For that matter, look at actual, real-life Coalition soldiers in Iraq. The never know where death is going to come for them either. All things considered I think they’re showing an amazing amount of restraint.

Therein lies the root of the Coalition’s evil. It is an evil born out of fear, and ignorance of the unknown. Because it is a human fear, an understandable evil, this alone makes the Coalition the better hope for humanity in North America. For, in time as humans, they can change, and learn and grow. Sure, it won’t happen soon, but it did happen for Germany, and Japan, and Russia, as someone else stated, these types of governments eventually collapse, but in their place something better can come about. The real evils in Rifts aren’t the Coalition, but the Splugorth, or the Lord of the Deep, or Nxla, or demons, some factions of the Federation of Magic. They are worse, much worse, because they have full knowledge of what they are doing, and embrace evil anyway. Many do so, not because of fear, or ignorance, or desperation, but simply for pure enjoyment or cruelty. In time, the Proseks may come and go, and there may be a change of doctrine and more liberal attitudes towards magic and D-Bees, but do you see Nxla or the Lord of the Deep turning over a new leaf, or changing their ways? No, well neither do I.

Ask any soldier, or general or king or warlord, or even read a little from the Sun Tzu's The Art of War, if you choose the option to go to war, it is your moral responsibility to do everything you can to ensure the war is over as quickly as possible. A long drawn out war, just drains the nation, wastes it's young, depletes its resources, and taxes it citizens. As bad as things got for the US during World War I, II, Korea, Vietnam, etc. The soldiers fighting those wars knew that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Eventually, people would die, but at the end of the day, the war itself would be over, an they would go home, and after they retired, their son's, and their son's wouldn't be there fighting the same darn fight over the same patch of dirt 20 years from that day. I was watching a war documentary talking about some of the sick, inhuman things American and Japanese soldiers inflicted upon each other during the battles for the Pacific islands. We’re talking some seriously depraved stuff, and these were fellow humans. Imagine what they’d do to an actual inhuman enemy. But still, all the combatants involved felt sure that eventually the war would end, and of the suffering would be over. Ask a vet, how he would feel, if he was still there fighting over the beaches at Normandy, or the Jungle of Vietnam, but worse, he knew his kids, and his kid’s kids were out there fighting for the same objective day after day with no end in sight. The supernatural intelligences aren’t leaving, and they aren’t signing any peace treaties. Where does that leave the CS is 200 years?

The Coalition may be evil, but you simply cannot compare it as being equal to the Federation of Magic, or Vampires.

That statement is a littly to broad. Many things have happened in order for the current CS policies to be in shape(FoM attacks in 12 P.A), the killing of humans by demonic beings ect.

Dunscon is a low life bastard, he's not a reliable ally(didn't help out Tolkeen b/c he was jealous), he works with demons, supernatural predetors ect., he's only known b/c of his father(so now he's trying to prove himself how "bad" he is).

About the purest cleanest thing that can come out of Duncson is his s*%#.

Just as many as have happened to Dunscon. Now you can't go talking about a country then to talking about a person. Dunscon may have been borne that way or whatever...his life has been worse than Prosek's. Prosek has chosen to lead the CS in this manner so that he could control it better in hopes of taking over the world not reclaim it for mankind. At least everyone knows Dunscon is evil he doesn't extend it farther by trying to mask it like prosek.

Nxla is supirior in evil to them all, because he does not enslave, nor does he attempt to rule. He devours souls. Your immortal essence. That what makes you YOU. CS would rather mist you and could care less about your soul as long as it wasn't here. Anything That messes with something on that sort of level is the embodiement of evil.

Dunscon/FoM. Participates in Human Sacrifice. Far worse than again, Just putting a bullet in someone's head. What makes them evil is they KNOW what they are doing. The majority know that humans are humans. The Majority of CS does not believe anything to be close to humans, fight a war to free earth from invaiders. While Ignorance is not completely an excuse, it's far worse to kill someone and enjoy it. They also mingle with Demons, who are embodiments of Humanities evil side. CS may not be nice guys, but they certainly don't make pacts with devils and demons.

Tolkeen: Were evil, but not too evil. In the end, they made deals with devils and demons, and thusly became more evil than CS.

Archie-3: A ruler looking for a kingdom. He is alive and self-aware, but not evil. There is at least a method to his madness

They are the epitome of human government gone

All the AI and VI and other races that have "no" choice and are evil are that way because they are. They are there for a reason (because they were written that way ) and evil by nature not by choice. The magic geek is the way he is because he is mental. The Proseks are the way they are because of choice. To be evil by choice is far worse than to just be that way. Being evil when one can just as easily be "good", and likely triumph easier, but choose to be evil because it serves you is the worst kind.
