So what did everyrone think of this movie? I saw a lot of
Nightbane like things to it. I'm not familiar with the comic
Hellblazer but I enjoyed this movie, well worth my $7.00.

I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD. It looks interesting, but not good enough to drop the extra cash.

Not out over here in England yet, am liking the look of it but Constantine but it is nothing like Hellblazer the comics. John Costantine is an Engish blond, drinker, smoker who doesn't give a "$%^. Mr Reeves 4 all his matrix bravo isn't even close to the main character.
But rant aside the movie looks pretty sweet, like the dragon fire part in the trailer!

I am hoping it has a close bearing to the character from the comics. I read Swamp Thing and later Hellblazer, and I'll be disappointed if this is the "catwoman" of the DC/Vertigo universe. If it stinks, I will place the blame on the sceenwriting most likely. I don't hate Keanu Reeves, and the movie is likely to simply be written and scripted poorly, neither of which the lead actor is responsible for.
If it's done well however, then I'll push for a Sandman movie: Season of Mists should do nicely.

I thought the first Matrix and Devils' Advocate were good.

Yes. John Constantine first appeared in Swamp Thing.
DC is Vertigo?
Again, yes. Vertigo became the catch-all for the Horror titles and stuff of the DCU. Swamp Thing, HellBlazer, Sandman, Animal Man, Doom Patrol (for a while), and a few others.
Wouldn't Catwoman already count as the Catwoman of the DC universe?
Unfortunately, yes. Here's hoping Constantine doesn't join her.

For me it's not that I have a big problem with Keanu Reeves. He's certainly not the worst actor in Hollywood... he usually gets the job done (although maybe not as good of a job as another actor would do).
For me the problem is that he is completely wrong for the part, other than being white and being male.

Damnit I went out and saw it. 9 out of 10 people. I really enjoyed it and it was long enough to get my moneys worth. Reeves got the job done and played a convincing *******. Never read the Hellraiser comics so I don't know how true to the comic it was... either way it was a good movie.

yes keanu does make bad movies, Devils advocate was good, but then again is had big Al in it, so it was bound to be good.
and the bill and ted movies, excellent.
having seen only the fisrt 20 mins of constinten(sp) (damn big headed talkers) I can only say keanu seems to be stuck playing keanu.
he dosen't seem to take on a character as much as how he thinks he'd react in the same situation. if that made any sence.

Y'know I thought this movie would suck too because I'm not a huge keanu reeves fan and I'm a huge hellblazer fan but the movie was great! I didn't expect it to be a direct clone of the comics and I was very suprised at just how good it was. I expected it to be like"Dude...Where's my soul?" and it wasn't. The special effects were very cool and they did take pieces out of other hellblazer stories but I don't think there will be another movie because they really left no way to do another one.

I have not read HellBlazer though, besides their webpages information and ihope to find the comics in a batch fairly cheap (there are tons!). The only one i have is the Warren Ellis unpublished issue.
The bullets were melted down holy symbols. The tats... *shrugs* I'm guessing it has something to do with the comic.
