I was watching my favorite cartoon with my kids and I saw the most recent episode...

Questions.
1. How on earth did Shreder have kids?
2. What the... ???

If your talking about Karai, she was a child that the shedder took under his wing. Sinced he raised her, both have a relationship on the level of father and daughter and consider each other as such.

there was a human shredder but the tcri rogue killed him and made his skin into his bionic body

that Daughter of shredder is not really the daughter of shredder, she is of the foot clan and has another father who is NOT shredder but of the oroku Saki clan


she's also from the mystical side of the foot clan.

Correct. Like the other Utrom Shredder had to have a realistic human body to intract with.

Let me try to clear this up;

According to the new cartoon, the Utroms were transporting a criminal Utrom across space (presumably somewhere where it couldn't do any further harm) when it escaped & damaged the ship enough to cause it to crash-land on a primitive backwater planet (Earth). The evil Utrom promptly escaped, but the surviving Utroms salvaged what they could from their ship (no engines, no communications, barely any usable tech) & built basic humanoid robotic transports so they could interact with some of the locals (which just happened to be Fuedal Japan) and try to rebuild until some form of rescue could be attempted.
The evil Utrom stole one of the prototype 'suits', and quickly esablished himself as a Warlord. The remaining Utroms went into hiding.
Over the next 1,000 years, some humans were recruited into the Earth-based Utrom society as Guardians, while 'The Shredder' used various ninja & criminal gangs to steal what he needed.

Flash-forward to modern-day NYC. Oroku Saki (the latest evil Utrom identity) is head of the Foot clan, having kept pace with the Utroms in building a more human-looking suit. He has an adopted daughter, Karai, who was abandoned as a child & subsequently raised by The Shredder in all things Foot. She is in charge of Foot operations when he is not in Japan. Saki/Shredder also runs the Purple Dragons street gang, through his oversized lieutenant, Hun.

Yes, the scene where the Turtles take the 'head' off of The Shredder made it past the censors because it was the robotic head & not 'human'.

The show is not that bad. They do draw some inspiration from the Mirage comics. Try THIS for more information.

I have seen several episodes now, and I think it is WAY better than the 80s show. If they could just get past the muti-colored masks it would be perfect.

They kept the different colored bandana-masks because psychologically, they are easier to remember.

A ~ To provide a more solid link between the Utroms & the Turtles other than the 'accedent' that mutated them.
B ~ It makes the main villian (Shredder) more hateable than a simple crime boss.

point, but still it kinda ruined shredder for me.

Okay, the original turtles were cartoony and ridiculous, it was no wonder Palladium's RPG stagnated. Yet it was because of those cheesy cartoons that I knew of the turtles in the first place. I had no idea they were in comics until recently.

As for the new series, I'd say it's probably alot more faithful to the comics and the game. Many of the characters were remade and became more mature and sophisticated characters (the transformation of Leatherneck, or was it Leatherhead? Anyway, the change in character the mutant alligator had is a prime example,) the show now also broachs the topic of using genetic engineering to make monsters out of people, it take a more realistic approach to how the turtles move around on the surface (no more of that overcoat and hat stuff, but the amount of characters they meet that aren't really freaked out by their appearance is still somewhat unrealistic.)

I hadn't heard of the comic myslf until I picked up my own copy of the original TMNT & OS RPG. It took me a while, but I was able to find the Fisrt Comics reprints of the first 10 issues, then updated my collection from there.

I agree, the first cartoon was geared more for younger kids & it seemed just cheezy.
The newer one is much closer to the Mirage comic, it's first run, but still holds up under BS&P.
And it was Leatherhead.
